3. wtf !
my son loves Captain Underpants, he owns all of `em. i love the books too. the underlying message is great.
adults can be jerks and just because a kid has an active imagination,etc.,etc., doesn't make them ADD or potential juvenile delinquents or idiots, whatever.

it is ok not to conform to norm.

4. Here's my question..
Banned for insensitivity and being unsuited to age group, as well as encouraging children to disobey authority.

How is that a bad thing? I guess they want to encourage sheeple?

If you put boxing gloves on Capt Underpants, he looks a lot like Eric "Butterbean" Esch.

32. Did you play it under Cartman rules?
Everyone else's rules for Rochambeau (aka rock-paper-scissors):
Rock smashes scissors
Scissors cut paper
Paper covers rock

Cartman's rules:
I kick you in the nuts as hard as I can
You kick me in the nuts
Whoever falls down first loses

19. Not surprising - a number of Christian groups/school ban these books
Cool thing is, though, I think they're hilarious, as does my partner, and all my clergy friends in Japan buy these books for their kids, usually in both Japanese and English.

Some people are just way, way, way uptight.

Ironically, these books are poking fun at those people. :-)

29. Wait, wait, you're misunderstanding the site
MU didn't ban the book itself. . .

This is part of an online exhibit about books that have been previously banned in the United States. Banned Books Week is an annual event sponsored by the American Library Association; libraries at all levels in the U.S. create displays, presentations, and Web pages to talk about the books that have been censored and why (*cough* closeminded fundies *cough*)

Just had to defend the honor of what was almost my alma mater.
