he was quite good in that one episode where he was being held prisoner by the Cardassians, and they we're doing this alternate reality shit to him that was making him basically go insane... man, it's been years since I've seen that show.. I only remember bits of it..

14. And Wesley had more relevance in stories...
All Troi did was look pretty in those not-standard-issue "uniforms" and tell everybody the blatantly obvious.

Still, nobody's perfect...

Poor Zefram. All he wanted was to make some bucks and retire to "some tropical island filled with naked women."

Is that really so much to ask?

Roddenberry's weakness for nepotism never helped the show.

41. Marina Sirtis gave an interview years back...
...where she talked about how she came up with Troi's accent. She said she'd thought about how languages change over time and how there would be a lot more cultural integration in the future, so she invented an accent that was part European, part American and part "alien." I think she went a little overboard on the "alien."

49. Troi annoyed me because she would always "sense" the obvious.
Typical Troi scene...

Worf: The alien ship has just raised it's shields and is firing on us!

Picard: Red alert! Raise shields!

Worf: Direct impact! Shields down to 20 percent and hull breach on deck 9 and 14!

Troi: I sense hostility from the alien ship.

Me: Ya think????

It actually just dragged her into its black ooziness, held her there for a whole, then oozed her back out onto the surface, and she was dead.

Kind of a let-down, if you ask me.

and Tom Paris? The only line tom paris had was "Here we go" and all his stupid 20th century references (bad writing).

Julian Bashir was annoying in the first season.

Edited to add: What about Chakotay? Every 5 lines from him was "my people".

Janeway was pretty awful too. Always was saying "mraaaaa". Sometimes I'll talk to a friend on the phone and we'll start talking like Janeway, going "mraaa" "mraaa"... then it ends up mutating into talking about Odo because he had a similar grunt..

36. Worf's kid was annoying off-screen too
The actor who played Alexander Rozhenko is named Brian Bonsall. Prior to ST-TNG he was in Family Ties, and before that he was available for modeling and advertising gigs in San Francisco. I've photographed lots of kids in my career, and at that age nearly all know that they are getting paid a professional wage to do a professional job. Not this one. The crying, tantrums, moaning and bitching went on for hours. Only after I stormed off the set -- to yell at the talent agency for sending me a bratty amateur -- did he shape up. It's quite funny looking back at it now.

37. Tasha Yar and Quark
To the person who called Neelix the Jar Jar of Star Trek, you are entirely wrong - Quark was the cliche-ridden empty-vessel unnecessary and ridiculous Jar Jar of Star Trek.

Tasha might have been an interesting character if the idiot bitch who played her wasn't such a fucking awful actor. Christ, she couldn't play a Romulan version of herself, either, without dragging the collective acting talent of the crew by about 1800 percent.
