Anyone have TiVo? Love it? Use it to watch tonite's debate? |
|
I paused after every question, talked about it with my wife, decided what they should say, watched. TiVo made the debate better.
TiVo changes the way you watch TV. The problem to adoption is that you have to see it before you can understand WHY it makes TV so much better.
TiVo users, check in!

1. I've had it since shortly after it came out... |

and I can't imagine watching TV without it. Best consumer electronics product ever.

Do you find yourself trying to show friends and family how better tivo is than tv?
I also find that it's hard to "get it" until you've used it.
But, once you're a TiVo user - it's VERY hard to watch TV at someone else's house. I find myself irrated that I can't skip the commerials, and that we have to flip around to find the least offensive thing on. I'm used to picking the best program from a list of my favorites.

The cable company offers a digital video recorder which I've been using for about a month. I do love it, but it really is like mainlining video heroin. Addictive. There's always SOMETHING to watch...
Unlike Tivo, this doesn't suggest shows (fine by me) and I don't have the Tivo people pimping my personal viewing habits (although my cable co. might be--but they'd do that either way). It is also seamlessly integrated with my cable service, so it saves a remote and potentially some confusion.
Keeps me from "rushing home" from work to catch a TV show, and I think it might be less than Tivo... didn't have to buy the unit, and it's only like $4.95 a month. I actually "crashed" my first one the other day, and just took it back and traded it in for another one, free. Sweet.
The programming and navigation options could use a little more refinement, but overall, I'd recommend it to any TV junkie.

I have a RePlayTV, It's basically the same as a TiVo.
I put a 200GB harddrive In it, I now have over 60 hours of recording at High Quality.
