I just received a very troubling PM. I could use some advice
This is from a poster I've never talked to before, that I recall. I have no posts on any threads s/he's started in the past 24 hours, so I'm not sure what s/he's referring to. I'm posting this under the assumption that others have received the same message.

I'd appreciate any advice on how to deal with this.

my last request

Thank you so much for your replies on that thread! Much appreciated!

Things have all cratered for me, and today was one bad piece of news after another. I have no more options, and I'm done.

So, I leave you with this request.... please do whatever you can to remind people to work on the issue of homelessness, because NOBODY should have to end this way!

Also, what brought me down waS that there was no recourse to action when a Section 8 apartment was polluted. Poor people need to have a say in what is happening in their names, and access to legal remedies for bad conditions, abuse, etc.

thank you for whatever you can do for those who come after. This should never be allowed to go on!

Thanks so much!

xxxxxxx

1. Send back an offer to pay the cost of one week of low-cost accommodation.
Then try to set up a meeting between the person who sent the PM and a trusted, long-time DUer who is nearby.

3. Boy howdy, do I gotta disagree with that advice
I've worked with homeless families professionally. This is not a healthy way to assist someone you don't know.

2. I'm not familiar with any DUers named "xxxxxxx"

You do what you can in the world. I don't mean to sound heartless, but outside of pray for them, wish them well, and maybe refer them to homeless services in their city, there's not much you can do.

I know this is a sucky answer. I worked for a year in a homeless families shelter. It's not the sort of problem you can fix over the internet and it doesn't quite look like the DUer is actually asking for help. But prayer never hurts.

4. I would forward that message
To the people who run this site. They can track who posted it.

Good luck-

Do not meet with thgis person.

5. I think the person is just saying that they are done with DU.
There are some homeless on this site, so perhaps the person will no longer have internet access?

6. Not much you can do, if you can even understand what they are asking.

I'm confused, and would just not reply.

7. Maybe the message was for jpgray
I would write back and just say you don't know if she meant the message for you and that you are not clear about what she meant.

8. For now, I just alerted it in the hopes that the mods have some contact info for her
Maybe they can put her in touch with someone in her area if she needs help.

9. Alerting is a good idea...
The Administrators will handle it.

Moderators cannot see other people's PMs...
