Naveen Andrews

Andrews was born in London, England to Nirmala, a psychologist, and Stanley Andrews, a businessman, both immigrants from Kerala, India. He was raised in Wandsworth, South London (beside the River Thames) and had what he has described as a "very repressive" upbringing. Andrews was raised in the Methodist religion. At the age of 16, whilst at Emanuel School, he fell in love with his mathematics teacher, Geraldine Feakins with whom he had a son, Jaisal, born in 1992. Andrews was quoted in an interview later on saying that "{his} father would call {him} a prostitute" about being famous at his school "for going out with a maths teacher"...

Andrews is a recovering drug addict and alcoholic. He suffered from these conditions when he lived in London during his early twenties, and his promising screen career nearly ended. Andrews moved across the Atlantic to the United States to seek rehabilitation and get his life back on track. His efforts were successful, but he says that London provides painful memories of his alcohol and heroin addictions.

Andrews is in a relationship with actress Barbara Hershey and they live in Los Angeles. The couple separated briefly in 2005 and, during that time, Andrews had a son with another woman. He and Hershey later reconciled. In July 2006, Andrews was photographed kissing an unknown woman on Manhattan Beach, but his representative said that he and Hershey are still together

Andrews also plays guitar and sings.

3. Right. It couldn't be love. No way.
Because, you know, there's all those superficial differences. And stuff.

5. I was counting it as a "plus" for him.....
Although, I don't particularly like Barbara Hershey, I do think it's pretty cool that at 38, he's dating a woman who is 58 or 59.

7. Then my scorn is misplaced.
Still, that's not a flattering picture of her. My admiration for his attraction to her is somewhat softened by the fact that he's fathered a kid with another woman while dating her. I don't judge other people's lives, but I sure can laugh at them.

8. Well, I did choose a photo that seemed close to what...
a 58 year-old-woman really looks like, without the glamor photography. People really only accept the younger man/older woman thing if she doesn't actually look her age.

I don't pay much attention to celebs, but I have enjoyed the eye-candy aspect of Andrews in The English Patient, Bride and Prejudice and Lost.

4. I used to think he was really hot
and then I read an interview where he said that one of the best parts about his job on Lost is that he can go weeks without showering his hair. Call me clean freak but that just grossed me right out and I've never been able to look at him the same.
