I Deserve $200 Sunglasses...Right?
I mean, what's $200 either way when you buy a car...right? Except I didn't buy a car. Oh well too late now. Maui Jims and they sure are comfy...hope I can last a few months w/o losing them. :hi:

1. Yes, you do. I have a pair and I love them. Most comfortable
sunglasses I ever bought.

2. I had a 250 pair of Maui Jims, polarized
they were great, until someone sat on them.

From that point on, it was cheap 10 dollar jobbies I find in the mall in one of those portable vendor places

I think I'm going to wear mine to bed. Your story is a sad one, indeed. Basically my worst nightmare. You have my full sympathies.

4. I'm trying to decide between a pair of MJs or another pair of classic Ray Ban aviators.
What style did you get?

5. "Hurricane Amber HCL"
All I know is it's more comfortable wearing them than NOT wearing them, if that makes any friggin' sense. When I put them on, the world looked...clearer. I've had Aviators and these blow them out of the water.

But not for MJs. I just know an awesome product when I "see" it. Seriously...you won't be sorry.

8. Yes you do...
I used to own a sunglass store...Maui Jims are the best you can buy. Better than a $450 pair of Revos.

It's tempting to buy those $10 cheapies but they've very harmful to your eyes. Worse than wearing nothing at all. Most are imported from China so the UV protection is questionable. When you wear them, your pupils dilate allowing more UV rays into your eyes. Macular degeneration is getting more and more common with the ozone layer depletion...it's so important to wear a quality pair of sunglasses. Most people don't realize the real harm they're doing to their eyes by scrimping on quality sunglasses.

Your eyes are worth $200.

then hey, go for it.

In fact, you might keep better track of them because they're so expensive!

Actually I should have said that I'm the queen of finding the absolute best price for any product on the internet.

I can't google for shit for anything until someone's looking for a good price. All of a sudden I'm the queen googler.

I was getting by on $5 to $15 dollar sunglasses, but finally broke down and spent $150 on a pair of MJ's and it was the best thing I ever did for my eyes.

Forgot the link to Ho'okipa:

(Marv Albert voice). I've heard nothing but great things about MJs. The sun is almost set here in SD and I'm still wearing them for fear if I put them down something will happen to them.

I now have some $40 Bolle sunglasses that are almost as comfortable. I bought them at Sierra Trading Post online.

I bought a $290 pair of Chanel sunglasses for my mother on her birthday and she loves them and my favorite sunglasses are my $190 Dolce & Gabbana's. I sort of have a weakness for designer glasses :)

Now go work those sunglasses and make people jealous :P

I'm always losing mine, or sitting on them, or even putting them through the wash. I go through at least 2 or 3 pairs every summer.

If you spend a considerable time outdoors good eye wear is essential. I haven't broken the $200 barrier yet (prescriptions excluded) but I've cracked $150 a couple of times now for sunglasses.

On Edit: I own a pair of Maui Jims and like them.

29. I wear a pair of $50 Nikons
Overstock.com, so they were probably about $90 new.

I've had'em three or four years now, still in great shape. Made in Japan, and polarized lenses. Not too stylish, but hey, my style is a lack of style! :-)

30. Prescription shades! YES!
Prescription shades are one of the great inventions of the 20th century.

It makes it so us nearsighted types can drive without being totally blinded by the sun.

36. I actually think that the more you spend, the less likely you'll lose/damage them.
I used to have really crappy luck/attitude towards my shades. If they lasted 2 months, I was happy. Then, I spent $150 on some DKNY glasses, and they lasted me years. When they broke, I bought some Oakley Half Jackets ($120 at the time), and I've had those (knock wood) for around 2 years now.
