Songs you HATE yourself for liking?
Edited on Sat Sep-29-07 09:04 PM by BlooInBloo
That Ipod song - the woman with the little-lolita-girl voice - colorful outfits, dance troupe - singing "one-two-three-four tell me thatcha love more...".

God I hate myself for liking that song.

EDIT: If you're just to embarrassed to name the song, feel free to simply check-in. :)

55. I love that song
That came out when I was in high school, and that was the same summer that the Blues Brothers soundtrack came out (was Grease that summer too?). I still like "Magic" and maybe half of the Xanadu soundtrack, and am not really that ashamed to say so.

6. There is actually a Paula Abdul song I like
something like "In a funky way"

Clearly a purchased song, a borrowed producer, and she was the wrong person to sing it, but in the right hands, it could be a great funk song, and I like great funk.

47. Ruby - Kenny Rogers
I admit it -- This is a song made out of cheeze-whiz

Ruby

Youve painted up your lips and rolled and curled your tinted hair.
Ruby are you contemplating going out somewhere?
The shadow on the wall tells me the sun is going down -
Oh ruby
Dont take your love to town

Its hard to love a man whose legs are bent and paralysed
And the wants and the needs of a woman your age, ruby I realize,
But it wont be long Ive heard them say until I not around
Oh ruby
Dont take your love to town

It wasnt me that started that old crazy asian war
But I was proud to go and do my patriotic chore
And yes, its true that Im not the man I used to be...
Oh ruby
I still need some company.

Shes leavin now cause I heard the slammin iof the door
The way I know Ive heard it slam one hundred times before
And if I could move Id get my gun and put her in the ground
Oh ruby
For gods sake turn around

60. the original version will make you cry your eyes out
It makes the hair on my arms stand up. Kenny Rogers kind of ruined it, it had a much more bluegrass feel to it initially and you can just hear the pain in the guy's voice.

61. I was on the island of Ibiza
hanging out on the beautiful nude beach back in -- oh '87 - the music was blaring - beautiful people all around when all of a sudden, Kenny Rogers voice singing Ruby happened -- The European tourists loved it -- they played that song on the beach several times a day -- Whenever I hear that song I think back to that summer... It was so ironic to hear that song on that beach...

(I don't think Kenny Rogers ruined the song -- He did it different and made it popular.)

62. never would have expected to hear that on Ibiza
it is a whole different animal with his voice and without the mandolin, I prefer the original bluegrass, which I can't find, there is an older version by Johnny Darrell that is closer to Rogers' version but the one I am think of is really chilling. There is a very popular Osbourne brothers song called Ruby that comes up all over the place on any search I run. I have the old version on cassette somewhere, once I heard it I couldn't stand to listen to the watered down version anymore.

63. I found it amazing too
to hear that song THERE. But the German tourists were going through some kind of county western music love fest and they really loved (did I say LOVED?) that song. The guy and the girl playing the music had this neat little shack by the outrageous bar-restaurant on the beach - I took them a tape (yes I said tape) of Kenny Rogers Greatest Hits (Don't know how that got in my bag????) and gave it to them - They acted like I had given them a winning lotto ticket. It was Kenny Rogers all the time for the rest of the day... Lucille, Lucille, Lucille luuuuuucille!

Gawd forgive me....

Edited on Tue Oct-02-07 12:19 AM by Forkboy
We all like different things for different reasons, and whatever I like, or liked, I had a reason for it that worked for me at the time.I've listened to and liked all kinds of crap (and still do), from bands like Ratt and Twisted Sister to stuff like Emil Beauliau and Merzbow (don't look those up, and if you do don't say you weren't warned), and I'm not ashamed of any of it.I may not like it all now, but I did then, and that's good enough for me.

The only one I can think of that might cause some chuckles is the old song "I Know What Boys Like" by The Waitresses.

i was asking my daughter if she knew who that person was or the song and she told me to google the website - still haven't done it, though.

and yes - there are tons of songs i would be loathe to admit liking . . .

fer instance:

'Having My Baby'

I can't believe I'm admitting this in public. I feel guilty even while I'm listening to the song.

Also Panic at the Disco "I Write Sins Not Tragedies." Ditto - I hate myself every time it comes up in my playlist.

Excuse me, I have to go purge my thoughts and take a 30 minute cold shower now.
