We just got HD cable-- amazing. |
|
And now, from this day forth, the pox upon society known as Fox News is permanently blocked from my household
Seriously, HD is *amazing*. We cannot WAIT for the baseball playoffs now :D

1. I have a dumb HD question. |
|
I know I will have to get a converter to keep using my old sets.
Now whether I'm using a converter or go out and buy a new HD receiver, will I still be able to use my old VCR?

How old is your TV? Most VCRs still use the audio in/out video in/out wires that you connect to what auxiliary input you want on your tv.
Then again, I haven't used a VCR in like 8 years so I might be wrong :)
Get a DVD player. They're like 30 bucks nowadays.

5. We use the VCR to record shows so we can watch them later. |
|
None of us can stay up past 9 on work or school nights and function the next day. (And to think when I was a kid I figured I could stay up and watch whatever I wanted!) Can DVD players be used that way?

7. yes. Get thee a DVR recorder. |
|
It records shows to a hard drive that can store literally months worth of TV shows--no need for tapes, discs, or whatever.

8. HMMM - you mean no more debating whether someone recorded a Thursday show on the |
|
Tuesday tape because not everyone got to see the Thursday show from last week?
Are you trying to keep my family members from talking to each other?

9. and you can record multiple things at once |
|
Not to mention you can program it to automatically record every show that you want--it's very convenient. We don't watch much TV during the week, but we like to watch a few shows regularly. But, we can program it to record, say, "The Office", "The Daily Show" and Adult Swim and then just watch it all when we want or when we have the time. :)
