The friends I've never met....
I'm glued to certain posts these days, specifically Stacey & OMC. Never met either of them in person, but oh! I want good things for them!!! There have been others in the past; the internet has changed the way I see the world -- I believe in the magical power of Kevin Bacon because I think we all are really "six degrees" from everyone on the planet!!!

Just a thought. I hope she goes home to her children soon in a happy, healthy way....

2. I was just saying something similar to my SO
I've been thinking about them so much and news on Stacey's condition is the first thing I've been looking for when I log on these days.

Even if we've never met, we get to know a lot about each other - you feel like its one of your friends who's going through something. As it is.

I, too, hope for the best.

3. Me too

I also told my husband about Stacey. It *is* real life. We are simply sharing our lives in a different medium. People should realize we are all real people. Not simply typed out words on a computer screen. Does that make any sense?

4. I think the first time that realization REALLY hit me
was when two of my online friends ended up meeting IRL and falling for each other, and eventually getting married. It was just kind of... wow. Two people, living halfway across the country... both of them 'online friends' of mine... now starting a family together.

Which reminds me, I gotta email them back... :)

5. The internet has changed how I see the world too...
It has made the world a virtually real place...

I've made many very good, close friends here...

And more than a few have become offline friends as well...

My world is much different from a little over two years ago, when I joined DU...

I'm also hoping that Stacey goes home well and healed...

6. I've found myself checking DU more often than normal this weekend
just to see if there were any updates from OMC... I've been sad and upset about other DUers that have passed - Khephra, Andy Stephenson, etc - but, the posts from OMC have just been so heart wrenching. Here's hoping for that miracle.
