First day back at work after 9 months away |
|
For anyone who doesn't know, I work in a grocery store, managing the liquor department. I go in at 4am (at the latest) and lift heavy cases of booze all day.
My impressions of my first day back -
It was really wonderful to hear all the Celine Dion songs on the canned in-store "radio network" again. Glad that hasn't changed. :sarcasm:
It's amazing how within moments, it feels like you never left. ~sigh~
My feet hurt. x(
I'm running a nice hot bath right now.

I've been off work for a while now because of my back. I don't know how I'm ever going to return. Glad you made it.

2. God, that bath felt great! |
|
I had knee surgery in January and it didn't heal right so my doc kept me out, trying to get it to stop hurting. Which it never did. There's nothing really wrong with it except its had so much cartilage removed, its not really absorbing the shock the way it should.
So I kinda had to go back. I'm sorry you have a bad back - it sucks to have pain and be limited by your body.

Nice to see ya!
I started school last week and work this week - I'm not going to be around here quite so much anymore. :(

6. You lift cases, 12 bottles, of booze? |
|
You're a lot stronger than I am!

7. Eight hours a day, 40 hours a week |
|
Pretty much. The average case weighs between 35 and 40 pounds, cases of champagne are closer to 50 and we get some stuff in individual bottles packed in plastic bins that weight around 60 pounds.
Actually, its kind of funny because I've had people comment on how physically demanding my job is and its nothing to what I used to do - which was working on a road construction crew, specifically the bridge crew (concrete and steel). Now THAT was a tough job!
