Cheap Trick appreciation thread
Please post here your favorite clips, lyrics, songs, concert experiences of Cheap Trick...

Or just your general impression of CT.

They're still alive and kickin' after 30 years, and I think they're one of the most underrated rock bands of the last 3 decades.

15. No kidding. But any song about teenagers thinking their
parents are screwed up is sure to be a hit.

The lyrics make no sense, but it's got a good beat and you can dance to it.

BTW:

The line: "Now I had heard the WACs recruited old maids for the war"

Was changed by the record label. Originally, it was:

"Now I had heard the WACs recruited old maids, dykes and whores"

Which makes the next line make more sense:

"But Mommy's isn't one of those; I've known her all these years"

Just FYI.

22. Just yesterday I heard their cover of "Ain't That A Shame"
definitely hit the spot, for one who once marched by Fats Domino's house on MLK Day (you could tell it was Fats' house 'cause it had the initials "FD", stars, etc., emblazoned all over it :-) ).

When I was in college, they would stop and do shows at my town, between 2 big cities. Most acts never stopped there. I appreciate them for that, and of course Dream Police, and Surrender, and The Flame, and so much more...

29. One of my all time favorites.
Rockford was excellent all the way through, and easily their strongest release in years.

I love a lot of their non hits, songs like Love Comes Tumblin' Down, Mandocello, Way of the World. But if I had to pick one it has to be Auf Weidersehn.Kick ass drums!

One song of theirs a lot of people don't know about is "I Must Be Dreamin'" from the Heavy Metal soundtrack (one of two they have on it). It's a weird, almost industrial sounding tune, and it's friggin' great.

And speaking of industrial, Rick Nielson has appeared on the last two Ministry CD's (and their side project, the Revolting Cocks last cd). When CT did a show for Sgt Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band a few months back Al Jourgenson of Ministry played with them for a song or two.Jourgenson said when they played together that the guys in CT were "total professionals" and that there were "no egos".

Why I find that awesome is that Ministry is also one of all time favorite bands, so it's a total two-fer. :)

Here's the Revolting Cocks song with an animated Rick Nielson on guitar;

33. Even my friend who hates music like that was surprised by the edge on Rockford.
Steve Albini produced half of it, and he's one of the best in the biz.He really captures a band's sound to perfection, and he works with all kinds of various bands and stars. It stayed in my heavy rotation for months.
