Which is worse for your career? |
|
Leaving a company without giving 2 weeks notice, or breaking an agreement with another company that you will start work for them on a certain date?

1. Depends on how you do it. |
|
I once took a job with a company, and was talked out of leaving the company I was at, at the time. I called the company I was going to go to work for, and explained that things at my current company were changing, and I was going to stay. It was all cool.

At what point did you tell the new company you changed your mind?

3. Well, it was a bit weird, in that the company I was with found out about |

my plans to go to another company. My boss begged me to stay with that company. I had been waiting for things to change, and they hadn't been, but unbeknownst to me, the change WAS happening. I was glad I stayed.

4. I Don't Think That Loyalty To The Company You Are At |

is ever viewed negatively. If you are happy, you made the right decision.

It's that loyalty thing that's the kicker. The current company is obviously big on it, and if I leave without notice, they will not like it at all.

6. Well, there is some stuff riding on this agreement, as well. |
|
The new company has a new contract with a client and if I do not show, it may hurt their relationship with the client.
