According to the John Madden Defense Intiative Act of 1987, both parties must be at some point after noon, regardless of time zones, unless one of the following stipulations is in place

1) If the JMD initiator audibly signals that the JMD will be used with more than 30 minutes to spare, and limits the JMD to the 'Throwback' accusation, it's is a Friday in both time zones, but ~and here's the tricky bit~ either the accussor or the accussed has one foot on the ground at the time of play - or can demonstrate that at least 30% of their physical bodies are under a table, the JMD is nullified at the time of play.

2) If witnessed by a third party, in a seperate time zone, the JMD initiator may also be subject to a penalty of a 24 hour period of grovelling, if it's provable that the third party had at least one side thread active with the initiator at the time of play, thus weakening the effect of the JMD and insulting John Madden personally.
