It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown!
Pumpkin Weighs in at 1,138 Pounds
RICHMOND, Va. (AP) - A mixture of Tye River water, special fertilizers and bluegrass music is being credited with helping grow a half-ton pumpkin that shattered the record at the State Fair of Virginia's giant pumpkin weigh-in Sunday.
The pumpkin was named Last Chance. It measured in at 4 feet tall, about 160 inches around and 1,138 pounds.

William Layton of Nelson County grew it.

He had to use a backhoe and flatbed trailer to transport Last Chance and Baby Huey, a smaller pumpkin that claimed second place at 824 pounds.

Last Chance broke the old State Fair record of 913 pounds but was shy of the world record of more than 1,500 pounds.

I thought this would be an interesting story for the start of October...but I would really like to know how bluegrass music can be credited?
