Hey, it turns out that I'm a poet!
Edited on Mon Oct-01-07 04:39 PM by Redstone
Somebody posted about some guy named Rumi who they said is the most popular poet in America, and sent me a sample of his poetry:

"I want to be where
your bare foot walks,

because maybe before you step,
you'll look at the ground.
I want that blessing."

...Hey, I can do something like that!

"I would walk barefoot
through the snow

for a mile and a half,
just to stand
where you sat."

Not bad, eh? Think I have a future as a poet?

6. Mine actually worked to pick up a woman once, though. Only problem was,
she made me prove it.

How could you not like a woman with a sense of humor like that?

7. Was he the guy who wrote Ars Amatoria?
Augustus was not amused, if I remember rightly. Miserable git.

8. No, that is Ovid, a truly dirty Roman and my hero as far as Roman poets go.
Edited on Mon Oct-01-07 05:07 PM by WritingIsMyReligion
He was exiled for that stunt. :D

He's also the wit behind Amores and the Metamorphoses, which was one of the first attempts at codefying Greco-Roman mythology. Almost all Greco-Roman myths are inside that handy poem.

I :loveya: Ovid.

10. I'm becoming a Latin nerd.
:D I love the Roman poets, especially Ovid and Catullus, who are wickedly schoolboyish in their innuendo and humor and very witty.

11. Catullus...now THERE's a guy who would have adapted quickly to writing rap
lyrics, wouldn't he?
