When you take a shower....do you use a new towel each time?
Or do you just use the same one for a few days, just so you don't have to do more laundry?

I can use the same bath towel for a week.

This is real boredom here, folks. I can't think of a snappier topic to ask.

1. Reusing towels... the environmentally friendly thing to do!
(and also good for us lazy ones who like to avoid more laundry)

5. Three showers per towel.
Hopefully I'm clean when I get out of the shower so the towel doesn't get dirty. In the summer I use one towel per shower since I normally smear lotion on while my skin is still damp.

My fiance uses one towel everytime he walks by the shower though. Thankfully he only walks by the shower a couple of times a day.

6. It's a terry bath robe. It fits, it never gets stolen.
And it always finds its own way back to the bathroom. My husband puts mash notes in the pockets. It's got a hood and a belt.
Try it, you'll never go back to towels.

7. Two Or Three Times
After all... I'm CLEAN after my shower, so the towels stay clean too.

I might consider using them longer if they stayed soft and fluffy after continued use. My delicate skin loves the feel of Downy-soft feel and the April-Fresh fragrance.

They last longer with fewer washings as well. That dryer-lint you get when tumble-drying your towels is actually your towels FALLING APART.

9. I'm like you. I try to get a few days out of a towel.
The more I go to the gym (and more showers I take), the less days a towel stays in use. Here's a time where laziness is also environmentally friendly! :D

11. This is a hot button question for me.
I would use one towel for a week. However, even if I hang it up my wife always throws it in the hamper. It gets worse. In hotels I had to come up with the one-towel-rule. When we first met she would use all the towels in the hotel room and leave me none. My one-towel-rule states that in one 24 hour period in a hotel there must be at least one dry/clean towel available. She can do what ever she wants with the other 5 towels (We always stay at Marriott).

Edited on Fri Jan-30-04 09:17 AM by trof
Anywhere from one to two weeks, depending on humidity in the house.
I have a B-I-G towel rack, made from 1 1/2" closet rod. It's about 5' long and holds the current towel and a freshly laundered one. Plenty of room for the one in use to dry thoroughly. When I detect an odor from the one in use, it goes in the laundry and I grab the fresh one.
Works for me.

26. Bachelor?
You are right, the key is thorough drying between uses.

If you can wait a day or two between showers,
you'll never do laundry again.

Helpful hints:
Always dry your hair first and your towel will be
"shampooy fresh".
A shot of Lysol spray directly on the offending area
will elimenate odors instantly. :)

15. Most use more than once
We own a B&B here and offer our guests the option of reusing to be environmentally friendly or having fresh every day, and almost everyone who stays reuses the towels. They are normally here for no more than 3 days at a time - anyone staying more than that, I'm going to have to change towels and sheets, just for my sanity.

24. As long as one hangs the towels up so they get truly dry, one should be
able to get several uses out of a towel...once you are clean from a bath or shower, and you dry off, you don't have a dirty towel, you just have a WET towel...

there are definitely hairs/flakes of skin left on your towel at the very least when you dry off, no matter how well you wash in the shower.

29. No, there's too much laundry that way
Since I only use the towel when I'm clean, I use it several times. It's the same with sheets - I take showers at night so my sheets stay clean longer and I don't have to change them every week like some people do.

How often do you change the sheets on you bed?

33. Only if my stepsons have been rude enough to use MINE
I will NOT share towels, washcloths, toothbrushes, razors, or hairbrushes. I'm disgusted that they'll use a towel or washcloth without thinking about the fact that someone else uses it to groom their naughty bits. I don't want to share pubic hair with my stepsons. ICK. I do not wish anything touching my person that has been in contact with my stepsons' naughty bits. ICK.

I'll share with my husband in a pinch, but he's so hairy he leaves towels all furry, which is nasty. I really prefer to have my own towel, which I will use for a week. (When I was single and living alone, I used a towel until I could smell it, because I was a laundromat person.)

Drives the wife insane. My hair is so long though that one towel gets wet just from that. And then I have this weird thing where I don't like my wet hair on my bare back so I need one to wrap around my shoulders. Other one dries the body.

38. At least 4 uses per towel
Though I do use two towels every time I wash my hair (which is not every day unless I work out, because too-frequent washing dries it out).

Of course, that's at home. At the gym, where I use the towels provided by the towel service, I get a fresh one every time. There is no way I want to use a towel that has been sitting, damp, in a stuffy little locker for a day or two!
