1. Umm yeh
Look, if you are a national figure (for whatever reason) you simply don't turn down an invitation made by the First Lady. Regardless of politics.

2. Why did she invite him? I can see NOT turning it down, but is he
fairly vocal about some right-wing cause near and dear to Eva, I mean, Laura's black little heart????

3. He runs a youth camp of some sort...
...and she invited him to honor his work with kids. (This might be slightly off due the early hour, but I'm fairly close, I think.)

4. Not some sort of Christian, anti-choice, homphobic youth camp...
...the kind where Mel Gibson is often a featured speaker, I hope!

6. Mainly as a distraction from *'s other failures & ommissions.
``I was there to represent professional sports, which he referenced in his speech,'' Brady said. ``I'm a football player. That's why I was there. I didn't go there as a Democrat or a Republican. I went as a professional athlete and a Patriot - figuratively and literally - representing the country and what it stands for.

``The people I met were really neat. That's what I remember most about being there. They were really nice people dealing with things that are, in my sense, far more important than football. They're making a difference in the community.

look all that happy to be there, who would be,? with his looks ,position, and money, he could have been out having a real ball in stead of setting with a bunch of stuffed shirts listening to lies and BS.

9. I wonder if he was offended by the pResident's attack...
...on homosexuals?

Not that he is one, or is he? Not that it'd be a bad thing or anything.

Just rumour mongering:evilgrin:

10. I think someone on another thread
mentioned that Brady is a Dem who has held fundraisers for Kerry.

Anyone else see this?

Go Pats!

13. Yes you should! Here's why...
it was Pickles, not Dumbo, who invited him, not that that would let him off the hook, BUT...

Did you see his face in the crowd?! He looked like he'd just thrown a pick on first-and-goal! He looked nearly as happy to be there as Hillary!

Besides, you really don't have a good alternative on Sunday. Remember Reggie White? As in "Hispanics can fit 10 or 20 people into a house... Orientals (sic) can turn a watch into a TV..." THAT Reggie White. Weeeellll....

A while after he said that, seems God told Reggie to come out of retirement, to play one last season with...

the Carolina Panthers! And they let him, knowing full well that he was a fundie bigot!

He was even going to build a Biblical theme park near Charlotte! "Aw, c'mon, Mom! Just one more time on the Jonah and the Whale ride, pleeeeeeeze!" </sarcasm>

So you see, the Pats are still the people's choice. Remember the last time the Pats won the Super Bowl? (Of course you do. It was two years ago.) Back then, El Rushbo called them "socialists" because they insisted on being introduced as a team, rather than each player individually. Then again, they beat his beloved Steelers to get there...

14. as a guest of the white house you go
regardless of your political affiliation.

earlier this week he had an opportunity to endorse bush with Dennis and Callahan on WEEI and he refused saying he would rather not.

If you want to pick a team based on if they vote for the D then football is the wrong sport.

That said, root for whomever you want but the Pats are going to win.

in the simian's speech, him being in the NFL and all.

16. If the Village Idiot would have invited me, I'd have gone
And if Pickles would have invited you, you'd have gone.

Although that might have been entertaining: me with my various apron pins and a Democratic donkey on the lapel of my nicest wool jacket.

If Clinton would have invited Fred Phelps, he'd have gone. Even if he'd been told "you can't bring a God Hates Fags sign."

It's the SOTU, man. If you're invited, you go.
