Today in history 10-3
First off, today in 1967 Woody Guthrie dies at age 52. He was suffering from Huntington's disease and had spent almost 10 years in the hospital.

It was reported that Bob Dylan was secretly happy Woody Passed away, this forever preventing Woody from suing Dylan for "Extreme impersonation". Bob was quoted as saying "Heeeyyyyy alriiieeeeet" And a few other unintelligible phrases.

Also on the same day in 1967, Keith Richards gets a local priest to bless his guard dogs.

While the priest was sprinkling his magic juju juice, some apparently must have accidentally splashed on Keith allowing his body to still function 12 years after his death.

Below, The late Keith Richards' zombie.

2003 - Complaining about how sex is marketed to teens at a conference on domestic violence, the wife of Maryland's Governor Robert Ehrlich says, "if I had an opportunity to shoot Britney Spears, I think I would."

Just think... If she would have followed through with her threats, DU would have had easily over 50,000 less posts in its archives.

1945 - Elvis Presley made his first ever-public appearance in a talent contest at the Mississippi Alabama Dairy Show singing 'Old Shep', Elvis was 10 years old at the time and came in second.

People who knew "The King" back then said he would have come in first place if he hadn't have been so hopped up on "Old Jimmy's all purpose elixir". After the show Elvis reportedly shot out an old gramophone with his slingshot.

Below, little Elvis about 8 years before his first gig.

1954 - Born on this day, Stevie Ray Vaughan.

He was killed in a helicopter crash on August 27th 1990. The sad thing about his death is that some people say that Stevie had just learned his 4th guitar lick and it would have made for almost a whole new album of material.

Below, Stevie mistakes his guitar for a pork rind.

1902 - Harvey Kurtzman, founder of "Mad" magazine, was born.

I have just too damn much respect for this American Hero to say anything critical of him.

1983 - Paul McCartney and Michael Jackson release "Say, Say, Say"

And a nation mourns.

1994 - In Montreal, Eric Clapton begins his latest tour, dominated by his beloved blues material.

Speaking from his limo on the way to his 4 star hotel Clapton comments "I not only love the blues, I live it man... I live it".

Below, Clapton livin' the blues while meeting the Queen.

1932 - Iraq gains independence from Britain.

*Shaking fist in the air* "Clintoooooon!"

1978, the members of Aerosmith bailed thirty fans out of jail after they were arrested for smoking pot during an Aerosmith concert at Fort Wayne Coliseum.

Staying loyal to to the band, these thirty people remain fans which currently makes up half of Aerosmith's fan base.

7. I mentioned here last weekend
that I was conceived 50 years ago this week. Must have had something to do with Sputnik or my brother's 1st birthday. He suckered my parents into thinking that babies were easy.

I know, I had to look a few times to see if it was someone's idea of a joke. But I think it was real.
