5. My wife is Chinese and even she lives at "Chinglish"
a lot of the time.

I should have documented them on my last trip to China back in August.

from my last visit, and my wife told me it was a doctor's office.

And, seeing a sign for "Milkey Mouse" instead of "Mickey"

And, for work, my wife has dealt with women based in China with the English names "Swallow" and "Shaky"

9. I love Engrish.com.
Our mistakes, such as George Bush, probably have them laughing themselves under the table as well, so no worries.

I was playing a CD at work once, "Pathfinder" by Sven Grath, and the section repeating the title (in thickly accented English) caused a co-worker to exclaim, "Is he saying 'Ass Finder'?"

Changed it forever, just like when Homer Simpson sings a(ny) song.

12. It's definitely not wrong. It's hysterical!
 :hi: My husband nearly hyperventilates with laughter when he goes to engrish.com . I found it a few years ago, and it's truly hilarious! Some of the t-shirts from Japan are just too outrageous.

I expect some Japanese and Chinese folks are laughing their ass managers off at the way we Americans warp their languages.

I've always been suspicious that anything I buy with kanji symbols on it probably says "This silly Caucasian woman thinks this says 'Good Luck', but it doesn't". I had an experience which confirmed this once. I bought a T-Shirt from an American company with what were supposedly the Chinese symbols for "Inner Peace" on it. While I was shopping at the Asian grocery, a woman approached me to ask why I had "rice inside" written on my clothing.

That was probably an honest mistake, but I suspect that if I worked in a Chinese sweat-shop for pennies an hour making cheap junk for WalMart I would deliberately write something rude on the product knowing the ultimate buyer wouldn't have a clue as to what it said.

I like this one. It makes sense if you're a Buddhist or a theoretical physicist.

19. That happened to a guy I knew once
he had gotten the Chinese symbol himself that he looked up as "Gift of God" and had it tattoed on his arm...

However, a Chinese guy we both knew came up to him and asked him for his gift, because his arm said he was the Gift God.

The guy kept insisting it was Gift of God, but we then roundly mocked the guy, while all asking for our gifts, too.

14. I actually get to the point of near hysteria when I'm on that site for more than
a few minutes. It seems to build for me somehow, until I'm gasping for breath and tears are streaming down my face because I'm laughing so hard.

18. My old neighborhood in upper Manhattan offered an example of "Spangrish"
a Chinese restaurant located in the largely Dominican neighborhood gamely tried to translate its menu into Spanish. The result: "Moo Goo Gai Cacerola"! I never did see "Egg Foo Joven", though.

22. This is one of the many reasons why I love Japan
I love the signage--Engrish is literally all over the place. My favorite on the last trip was on a menu in Hiroshima: Rice covered with a thick liquid starch sauce.
