Is this your favorite time of year?
It sure is mine... cooler weather, longer nights, my favorite holidays... *happy sigh*

I've been counting the days till I could start with the halloween decorations. :D

And I can't wait to use the fireplace!

2. My dear redqueen!
Fall, and Spring, are my favorite seasons!

It's always such a relief to be away from the scorching heat of summer...

But I miss those long days.......

Still...it's a lovely time of year!

the only downside is that the students have returned to campus.

It's going to get warm here the next couple of days, and then cool down for Sunday and Monday. I'm glad it will be cooler on Monday. It's the Tufts 10K here. Last year when I ran this race it was 84 degrees... way too hot to be running (IMHO).

I'm not running this year, but I'm glad it will be comfortable for those that are running.

Maybe I'll come into town and cheer some of those folk on.

16. Only way it could be better
is if it was colder and snowier.

If it got dark at 2pm, I wouldn't mind.

I always did find the fall/winter sunrises and sunsets much more...something.

Stand outside at 3am, and just look up at a crisp, sold, clear sky. Just with your eyes, no telescopes or anything.

When the snow is really coming down in the middle of the night, and nothing is moving around, no cars, all you can hear is the wind...good stuff.

My favorite time of year started when fall began. I love the cooler weather (though it still feels like summer for now - ugh,) and am a big Christmas fan. Yes, Christmas has become too commercialized, but I like the gift getting/receiving and remember the true meaning of Christmas. Our family gets each other nice stuff for Christmas, but we never feel we have to overdo it. An enjoyable gift is not always expensive. This Christmas, I'm asking for some CDs: Bruce Springsteen's Magic, Vanessa Carlton's Heroes & Thieves, Lucy Walsh's Lost In The Lights, Debbie Harry's Necessary Evil, and Kyle Lardner's Sail Among the Stars among them.

Also, I'll be sparser on DU this fall when I do post, so don't worry. :hi:

Of course, up here in the Atlanta area, our winters are quite mild compared with the northern states. But they are much nicer than the winters in South Florida where I lived most of my life. Winter there is almost nonexistent.

76. Not especially
I love the period from late March to October 1st, and then usually my depression sets in for the rest of the year. I've tried everything from antidepressants to Vitamin D, Fish Oil and Sun Lamps to make this period of time more liveable, but really they have not helped too much.

I wish I were a bear, so I could simply hibernate until Spring Training.

but they don't hibernate, do they?

Anyway... sorry to hear about your symptoms... I hope you find something to make things a little easier for you this year.

79. It's my favorite, too...and it won't be long until my favorite meal of the year
which would have to be Thanksgiving. Screw this hot weather...it reached the low 80's today, and it's frigging October.

80. Mixed feelings about Fall
I like the fact that most of the tourists have left Florida, the extreme heat is over but it's still warm enough to swim, college football season is going strong, and the early mornings are in the low 70's which makes for nice running weather.

On the other hand, Fall is prime Hurricane season. Living on the water here in Florida, that can be a little stressful.

I only have to worry about tornado season. And I don't even do that, cause what the hell? If it happens, it happens.

Halloween and Christmas are nice but we could do without the sweltering heat and the raging bushfires that come too close for comfort to our suburb year after year. Heck, yesterday we had traffic congestion and our suburb was threatened AGAIN by the prospect of fire

Bring back winter, PLEASE

84. It's my least favorite time.
I always get really depressed when the darkness sets in. Something about living at the 47th parallel, I guess.

But if I lived in Texas, I'd definitely love fall. :D

104. Summer here
is COLD, foggy, gray and damp. September comes, the fog lifts, the sun comes out, it's warm, cheerful and festive.

When people want to come for a visit, I suggest Sept/Oct. Best time of year in the San Francisco Bay Area.

I love that first good cold front that blows in. The air has a crispness to it. And the air smells different.
The other day it was warm (in the 80's) but we had a cold front drop through so the air was warm in the sun, but the wind had that hit of cool air to it. Made me get excited for our first strong front.

102. It WOULD be if I didn't live in a state that only has two seasons...
9 months of summer, and 3 months of not-summer.

I need to write a letter to all the major stores and remind them that they need to sell summer-related things longer down here. I was kind of pissed off when we were having 95+ degree weather for several weeks straight last spring, and I went to see if I could buy an iced tea maker... and none of the stores carried them because it was the 'wrong time of year'.

I also need to write a similar letter to Sam Adams... because their summer ale is the best cold beer after a hot day EVER. And we have 9 months of hot days here, not 3.

103. Autumn is most favorite time of year...
Autumn is not particularly pretty in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, but it's definitely nice when the Northern Hemisphere begins to lean AWAY from the sun. The end of a Texas summer is without a doubt a noteworthy event. It becomes pleasant to be outdoors again. The State Fair of Texas comes around, etc.

A few times in my life I've been able to make my way to New England in the height of the autumn color. It's just totally awesome. Even though I can't be there, it's nice to know that that kind of beauty exists in the world.

105. YESS!!!
Autumn is my favorite season, by a mile. And my close-second-favorite is coming right up! (Call me crazy, but I love crisp brittle cold and thick deep snow.)

It also means the season I hate the most is OVER! I dance upon its too-bright, sweltery, oppressive grave.

109. My completely unscientific poll of everyone I've ever discussed it with my whole life long is
more often than not, people prefer the time of year when they were born.

I know I do.

Guesses as to why that is: 1) childhood attachment to the excitement of birthdays; 2) natural affinity for the weather that was present when we first arrived; 3) complete coincidence, no meaning whatsoever.

It has been 89-90 degrees here in sunny f**^(ng Florida, with no end in sight.

I miss my changing leaves and crisp, clean air.

Say hello to my Maryland, if you see it. Tell it I wish I was there.
