8. The only time I've know long distance to work...

is if it was a serious relationship, and then became long-distance for a finite amount of time. For example, one person has to go do a job in another state, but they know they'll be back in 6 months or whatever.

If it's not serious, or if the other person doesn't know when/if they'll ever be back, I have never known a single instance in which a long-distance relationship has worked. Not one.
