Anyone see "Big Fish", sorry, I mean "Pushing Up Daisies"? |
|
It was really different. Not surprised to find out that some of the people involved were also involved with Big Fish, given the kind of twee and whimsical staging/colors/costumes/sets/line deliveries.....

My partner and I watched it. He thought it was reminiscent of David Lynch. I immediately picked up on Tim Burton and "Big Fish". But I can also see the Lynch influences.
"Pushing Up Daisies" is a wonderful, unique show. I hope ABC sticks by it.

a combination of "Big Fish" and David Lynch.
Looks like we're on the same page.
I like it, as well.

4. I think it's the best new show. |
|
I like the premise of the show, the actors are wonderful. It's just unlike anything on the air right now.
And you and I usually agree on most anything. :-)

I've been missing Wonderfalls, so anything by the same folks is worth watching in my book. I thought everything about PD was great--the actors (including Swoosie Kurtz and Ellen Greene? genius casting coup!), the narration (reminiscent of Hitchhiker's Guide), the fairytale-like scenery and plotting. I really hope it makes it.

really brought to my mind a young Elizabeth Montgomery. It was cute I thought.

I agree that Swoosie Kurtz and Ellen Greene are extremely well cast (I've loved both of them, especially Ellen since her work in Little Shop of Horrors. As soon as I heard her voice, I was hooked. I also love Jim Dale's naration of the show.
In the premiere episode, there was nothing that I didn't like, I even liked the look his dog gave him knowing what happened and that they can't touch again. I truly hope this series lasts, it's magical.

I like the premise and the actors, but the narration combined with the "Big Fish" and "Edward Scissorhands" sets and colors, just got to me. I'll definitely give it another try though. It was too much for one sitting.

11. I watched the rerun on Friday night. |
|
I loved it.
Let's see if I got the opening sequence right: Ned's dog dies, he brings the dog back to life, but since he waited more than a minute (not knowing yet about that stipulation), this causes the fly to die. He brings the fly back to life and waits more than a minute, causing his mom to die. He brings his mom back to life and waits more than a minute, causing Chuck's father to die. Later that night, his mom kisses him, causing her to die again, permanently.
Lee Pace is only one day older than me. (His birthday is March 25th, 1979, according to Wikipedia, and mine is March 26th, 1979.)
Jim Dale doing the voiceover narration = WIN.
