The show Bands Reunited on VH1....
I'm getting addicted to this show. It's such good drama. For those who haven't seen it, VH1 sends the host and his camera crew all over the world to find and surprise former members of bands that have been broken up for like 10-15 years (and in most cases ended acrimoniously) and asks them if they would agree to participate in a one night meeting with the other members and if it works out rehearse for and perform a one night only concert.

So far I've seen Flock of Seagulls, Dramarama, and The Alarm and tonight they are doing Squeeze.

It's interesting watching these guys who went on to very different lives, go back and reunite and reconcile and then try to remember their instruments and songs and then watch them come alive on stage and just enjoy being back in the spotlight.

Anyone else been watching these?

2. Did You See The Episode on Berlin?
That was really good and the band was very, very good at the end.

Flock and Dramarama weren't as good live as Berlin, but were ok. I haven't seen the episode on the Alarm, though.

It is a very cool show, i agree.

3. The Alarm were phenomenal on this show....
The music, the singing, the performance style. It was like 14 years hadn't passed.

Plus I guess they ended 14 years ago with Mike Peters just saying on stage that this was going to be his last song with the Alarm. Without the band having any idea.

4. They did one on Extreme that didn't go anywhere...
I think everyone but one was down with it...and I think one was a yes depending on everyone agreeing. One of them is the manager of Godsmack and others, and another is a domestic Llama farmer. IT was really fun.

5. Actually
all of the band was up for the reunion except for Nuno Bentencourt (not sure if that is the correct spelling) he was the guitartist for Extreme.

The other members said that Nuno was always in it for the purity of the music as a form of personl expression and art, and was disillusioned with the whole music industry. He would not reunite for a one time gig with the other guys.

8. The guys in Extreme are almost all still playing music, just
not all together. Who's the llama farmer? I never heard that one. I know about the dude doing band management. I also know Gary has had a new band for a few years, and Pat and Mike (the band's second drummer) are in it. And it's a pretty good band, totally different than Extreme. (Can you guess--I'm in Boston!)

I'm bummed I missed that show; I knew they were going to be on, but I don't have any TV listings and I forgot all about it.

6. The episode with Kajagoogoo was strangely compelling.
I never liked the band, but the process leading up to the reunion was almost tear-inducing in spots.

7. yeah, I liked that one, too . . . odd, considering that . . .
I never heard of Kajagoogoo before . . . matter of fact, I've never heard of most of these bands . . . Flock of Seagulls being the exception thusfar . . . Dramarama? The Alarm? . . . not part of my musical past . . . still, I found the Kajagoogoo episode engaging, and was impressed with their lead singer . . .
