My newest stream of consciousness poem....
Written under pressure, in class!

Eavesdropping

They were whispering

Over there

Beside the door

The sun caught their faces

It outlined their profiles

Their lips moved

But I could not hear.

How can I hear them?

I really want this--

I know, it's none

Of my business!

I'll edge over silently

Maybe they won't notice me

Heh--who am I kidding?

They know who I am!

That older lady with the

Open mouth and silvery hair--

Oh well, give it up.

Probably nothing anyhow.

Close that door, willya?

11. My dear DeposeTheBoyKing!
I thank you!

It wasn't intended as a political piece......

But of course, you can interpret it any way you like...

That's the beauty of poetry!

12. Not much for poetry but, this is cool.
Was it a class assignment? I mean, did the Professor give you a topic or what? How did you get the start of it?

13. My dear Tuesday Afternoon!
Thanks!

Yes, it was a class assignment, to be done in class. We had the whole period of 75 minutes, to write three of these.

My teacher wrote a bunch of topics on the board, and we could use one of those, or make up one of our own. I used one of hers.

And then I sat there a moment, while I waited to see what I could think of to write!

This poem was the result...

14. Peggy... I don't want to hijack your thread
or change the subject. But, you inspired me to see if I could write one... under pressure... just now.

here it goes (btw, I really like yours... I could just picture it).

Yes, I seem to have insomnia again. :-(

"The Game"

Everybody needs it

And he thought she could play the game

But he was so much better at it

than she

and her sad song became too much

even for him

And the promises made

in the beginning

didn't matter in the end

You see, "Once upon a time"

happens in children’s books

When a person grows older

there is something they should know

it's not the same...

the show

It hurts a little more each time

someone goes away

But that’s life
they say

...so many clichés

But so very much more

pain.

16. Thank you
I should have substituted "Happily ever after" for "Once upon a time." But, I hate those little red "edit" remarks!

Late at night, if I'm feeling sad, I write poems all the time and then delete them (mostly on my blog).

17. I would strongly recommend that you NOT delete them.
Keep them, and look at them a day or two after you've written them, when your mood is lighter.

You might just be surprised at what you see there.

And try writing when you're not sad...

I write whenever the spirit hits me...sad, overjoyed, crazy, lusty, and so on...

You might be surprised at what you have inside you, sweetie...

I only feel like writing when I'm sad (unless it's politics or the Lounge).

When I'm happy (mostly when traveling or by some beach) I want to be outside enjoying life.

Does that make sense?

19. Of course it makes sense...
I keep a little pad of paper and a pencil in my car, so if I'm hit by inspiration, I can jot down some key words so I can remember what the hoopla was all about...

I also keep pad and pen in my purse for the same reasons...

These have enabled me to capture my emotions and store them until I have time to write them down more fully...

Throw some writing materials in your beach bag, and make use of them!

24. I am a consulting engineer and sometimes I have encountered what
seemed to be totally impossible circumstances. Sometimes solutions would come to me in the middle of the night, sometimes while I am fishing or visiting with friends, but they just come to me without warning and I try to stay ready for them. I have gotten a lot of credit for being really smart, but I don't think I am any smarter than the next guy. One time I read that the greatest secret in the world wasn't even really a secret at all, just maybe unbelievable. Interesting huh?
