I appear to have aquired some kittens
They were abandoned in my garage. We waited and waited, their mama hasn't come back and they were crying and very hungry. They can eat solids. They're super cute little orange fuzzballs and it's hard to type with them climbing all over me.

Introducing piglet and Dora:

3. Don't be so sure it was the mama who abandoned them.
Glad they came to those who will treat them well. They deserve nothing less.

9. Good point.
:(

They're safe now. We'll find them a good home once they're grown and cleared by the vet.

lol...

4 years ago a large neutered/declawed cat showed up at my workplace in the middle of winter. Big snow/ice storm was predicted over the New Year's holidays - brought the cat home with the intention of finding him a home or bringing him to shelter once we had him checked by vet and the holidays were over

His name is GATO, he's still with us...

2 years ago I brought home a kitten who had an upper respiratory infection, she was also found at my workplace. Got her to a vet, got some meds for her and the intention was to get her healthy and then find a home for her...

Her name is Calypso.. she's healthy and has a home with us..

23. I said the same thing about a year ago
We captured three kittens whose mother had been hit by a car in front of our house. The kittens were born under our back porch and were still there. I swore that as soon as we got them socialized (they were pretty feral), we would take them to a shelter. The kittens had other ideas....

Here they are today;

So naming them wasn't rocket science.

15. i believe that sunday -- at least for some -- is the Feast of St Francis --
Dear God, you have given us care over all living things; protect and bless the animals who give us companionship and delight, make us their true friends and worthy companions. Amen.

Dear God, protect and bless all beings that breathe, keep all evil from them, and let them sleep in peace. Amen.
--Albert Schweitzer, "Memoirs of Childhood and Youth"

Blessed are you, Lord God, maker of all living creatures. You called forth fish in the sea, birds in the air and animals on the land. You inspired St. Francis to call all of them his brothers and sisters. We ask you to bless this pet. By the power of your love, enable it to live according to your plan. May we always praise you for all your beauty in creation. Blessed are you, Lord our God, in all your creatures! Amen.
--Franciscan prayer

Piglet and Dora, may you be blessed in the name of the Holy One who created you, and may you and LeftyMom and family enjoy life together and care for one another in peace.

if you are of a mind -- you could take them to an Episcopal church and get them blessed.

but anyway -- the timing is very cool.

and what a sweet thing to take them in.

35. Omigod, they are so ADORABLE!
But then, they're kittehs. I've seen some really ugly dogs in my time, but never a really ugly cat. Maybe it's because when we domesticated dogs, we took Nature's beautiful original and kind of twisted and deformed them into a bunch of unnatural shapes, while cats haven't been domesticated for quite so long and they still look something like this kitteh:
