HTML help
I need help with the Loonie Watch.

I need this text:

Market Open High Low Last Change Pct
CD.Y$$ Cash 1.0134 1.0197 1.0129 1.0197 +0.0163 +1.62%
CD.Z07 Dec 2007 1.0144 1.0205 1.0127 1.0203 +0.0163 +1.62%
CD.H08 Mar 2008 1.0036 1.0040 1.0032 1.0045 +0.0004 +0.04%
CD.U08 Sep 2008 1.0210 1.0210 1.0210 1.0210 +0.0159 +1.58%
CD.Z08 Dec 2008 0.9530 0.9530 0.9530 1.0052 +0.0004 +0.04%
CD.H09 Mar 2009 1.0055 1.0060 1.0050 1.0053 +0.0004 +0.04%

...to look pretty.

The admins won't let me use tables. I've tried fooling around with fonts but the extra spaces seem to be getting parsed out. Fixed pitch would do the trick, but that doesn't seem to be implemented either.

Help!

2. Unordered list would work
or <pre>. Supposedly a dead tag, but it does still work. Allows you to preformat your text and put it into an html document exactly as you designed it.

6. Would it work to click the "message format" button, "format your message in plain text"
That might keep the spacing, but I can't remember. It's been a while since I've used it.

15. Can you use DIV tags?
Edited on Fri Oct-05-07 04:05 PM by Der Blaue Engel
I'm not a pro, but I understand that tables are "on their way out" and DIV tags are taking their place. You can set the margins for a column of text within the <DIV style=""> tag. I'd offer more specifics, but I haven't done any from scratch myself and I don't have any of my work code here on my home computer to take a look at. I bet you can google it, though.

On edit, on viewing the source of my company's homepage, I guess you have to create DIV class definitions in your CSS or inline styles first, then use <DIV class="name_of_predefined_class"></DIV> to enclose each column of text.

On even further edit: Oh, you're talking about posting that text here on DU? Never mind, I thought this was a work thing and you'd have access to style sheets and page code. Pay no attention to my rambling.
