How the HELL did I end up with a cell phone that takes pictures?
I went to the cell-phone place today, because my contract is expiring and I wanted a new phone. My old one was three years old, kinda clunky with no frills. I was ready to jazz it up a bit,but before I walked in there I decided that having a cell phone with a camera is the height of vulgar conspicuous consumption, and there'd be none of that for me. Utterly useless and vain. No Siree not this girl.

So, guess who walked out of the store with a cell phone that takes pictures? I cannot believe I did that. It's so completely useless, even if it's kinda neat. The price for this model was only slightly higher than the price of the model I was going to get, why it almost seemed crazy not to go with it. I was completely dazzled by the whole thing.

I'm not sure, but I think this one even cooks dinner. I'm still reading the manual.

2. Those are causing a huge pain in the ass.
My gym bans them from use out in the open areas. I'm pretty happy mine doesn't take pictures. That's what my camera is for.

6. Yeah, I'm wondering if these cell phone cameras are going to become
illegal in even more places. Dang! I already have a camera! What was I thinking!

5. Take that phone to EVERY protest.
Can is broadcast video to other phones?

Can any?

I'm thinking a peer-to-peer camera network may become a necessity very soon.

No, it already IS a necessity. Good for you- that capability could very well come in handy!

7. i think my cell phone is on its last legs (ancient----think rotary...
...and big as a toaster, to boot).

So I'm looking on line at the sprint site and it seems like ALL the phones have cameras! Do they still make plain ones?

And do you have to pay MORE for the ability to send pics, or no?

Hold out a little longer, and wait for the fad to pass. A lot of corporations are banning these outright from their premises for fear of industrial espionage. People will get sick and tired of having to leave their phones with security everytime they have a meeting, or go to the gym.

14. Yes they still make plain ones, in fact you can get a really
nice one at Verizon for about $20.00 (after mail-in rebate). It does voice mail, text messaging, caller ID, stylish looks too, but alas, no camera!! It really is a pretty good deal, I'm sorta wondering now why I didn't just get that one?

And you do apparently have to pay to send pictures, it's about $8.00/month for unlimited pics and unlimited text messaging.

The good thing about my fancy shmancy camera phone is I only signed a one-year contract, so this marriage should be easy to get out of if need be.

11. I know the feeling.
I upgraded mine last April. Did not even know that the thing had voicemail until a friend told me he had left me a message on it. I said "where?" He had to show me how to access it. duh.

12. Now, if they could make a cell phone that's also a PEZ (tm) dispenser!
That would be cool.

Who the hell wants to take photographs with their phone? That's like ordering a pizza with your camera.

before I figure out how to post it here, but I'll give it a try!

17. Next comes third-party activation of these things
a new plague of viruses from the technically adept, IMO.
It's bad enough with people driving and talking themselves into accidents. Now they'll want to snap pics at 75mph.
Or maybe the pranksters will rule for a while.
