Unpopular opinions about anything and everything
What do you hate that it seems most other people love? Or vice versa? It can be anything--food, books, music, movies, TV, etc.

I hate lobster, and always have.

I love--LOVE--broccoli. I'll devour it cooked or raw. I also love spinach, but only raw.

I hated the book Catch 22. I finished it but I struggled through it and it took me two weeks to finish.

I hated the movie Galaxy Quest.

I like Bright Eyes and Clap Your Hands Say Yeah.

I like Arby's. (But only their beef and cheddar, and those cream-cheese filled jalepeno (i forgot how to do the ~ over the n) things. Actually, I love those things so much that I'd eat them if they came straight out of Satan's asshole.

I refuse to watch Desperate Housewives.

I liked John from Cincinatti.

3. Popular fiction
4. Going to the movies. (I have to admit, I'm hooked on reading about movies, critique, academic evaluations, listening to directors and actors talk about their craft. Just
hate going to the movies. haven't been in 17 years.)
5. Latte mocha bocha skim double red eye fancy shmancy coffee. Just brewed coffee black.
6. Responding to requests for lists.

41. I don't hate live sports
I can't bear to watch any sports on TV. I have a blast when I'm at a game. I don't know what I'm seeing, since I know nothing about the sport or its rules, but I love being there. But don't make me watch it in TV.

My favorite sport is sailing (because I actually participate), but if I'm not actually on a boat, I couldn't care less about it. I've never watched the Americas Cup on TV.

You know, the pornstar type?

I hate movie theaters.

Love raw spinach.

I hate almost any soup or stew, but loved chowdah.

Reality tv shows suck, except that Survivorman thing. That's pretty cool.

I like pro wrestling.

If it's played on commercial radio, it probably sucks. Classical, jazz aside.

LOTR and Potter...never bothered to see LOTR, didn't read any Potter.

I love pit bulls, and every other member of the "dangerous breeds" that I've met.

I hate coffee. All kinds. Even the ice cream.

20. Forgot a couple
I hate tomatoes. Well, not entirely. You won't ever see me eating a tomato out of hand, but I love tomato soup and Italian food. Basically, the less a tomato looks like an actual tomato, the more likely I am to eat it. The only way I'll eat raw tomato slices is in those KFC wraps with the fried-chicken strips in 'em... I dunno, something about the tomato and chicken together tastes really good to me.

I also despise mushrooms and won't eat them in any way, shape, or form.

21. I've got some.
- I dislike almost every single kind of pie there is, yes, even apple and cherry. I can tolerate lemon meringue pie, but that's about it.

- I dislike almost every kind of cake as well, german chocolate excepted.

- Oliver Twist is the worst book I've ever read.

- I like John Mayer.

- I think Heineken is garbage.

- I also think a lot of abstract art is garbage. (I'm talkin' Polar-Bear-In A-Snowstorm style) :eyes:

- I'm not anti-gun. (I'm not pro-gun, just not anti-) :hide:

- Similarly, as a matter of principle, I'm not anti-death penalty. Harsh, I know, but some of the people who commit ridiculously heinous crimes don't deserve to live. :hide:

- I enjoy watching soccer. :bounce:

- I hate whiskey.

- Starbucks' coffee is foul. Gas station coffee tastes better to me - maybe because I drink it black?

- Bologna and green olives are among the foulest foods I've ever tasted. :puke:

- I think country music is an abomination.

I don't think JLo is all that good looking.

I think Julia Roberts is a mediocre actor.

I love Kraft Macaroni and Cheese. :P

28. I'll claim as a Cascadian or a Californian
Althougn my vision of Cascadia would include California and BC and the Alaskan Panhandle as well as WA and OR. It would combine the economic powerhouse of Cali with the resources and natural beauty of the NW. For the most part there are culturally consistent.
The other nations could be the Republic of Texas, the Confederacy (the old south), New England (Maryland to Maine), the Upper Midwest based around the Great Lakes(Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan, Ohio, maybe Illinois, Iowa, Indiana). The Mountain West/Great Plains and New Mexico/Arizona. I suspect Utah might also become it's own entity.

I think that the regions would mostly congeal along common cultural lines and political lines, using some geographic features as possible borders. All the regions have their own disparate reasons to secede but they would agree on the idea that they all have the right of self-determination.
I think the potential for a peaceful dissolution is possible and definitely desirable. We can all go our own ways and live in societies that most reflect our own outlooks.

48. I haven't read Friday
I read Stranger in a Strange Land, Number of the Beast , and Starship Troopers, all many moons ago.
I came to the idea of secession fairly recently. I used to hold on to the idea of American exceptionalism, that we were this grand experiment in democracy. But as years went on, the more I saw going on in this country and its history began to disgust me. The cognitive dissonance between what I was taught and what I saw became too great and found that they could no longer be reconciled.
My first consideration was to leave the country and live somewhere that more closely conformed to my own worldview, like Holland or Canada. I also briefly considered the idea of revolution throughout the entire nation, but that is unworkable because of the deep gulf of cultural differences that exist between the regions. The only logical solution seems to be secession, where the regions can depart as amicably as possible, similar to the breakup between the Czech and Slovak republics in Europe.
When people here think of secession , it conjures images of the Civil War. Nobody wants another civil war. I think however, that the idea of peaceful dissolution will become more reasonable to average americans as the situation in the US worsens, which it surely will on our present path. I am also now convinced that whoever wins the White House will basically be our version of Gorbachev, a leader overseeing the dissolution.
As I said, I hope for a p[eaceful dissolution, but there are many practical issues that will need to be worked out including the division of the military, diplomatic relations within the former US and the rest of the world and with each other, the racial issues in the old south, and the writing of new constitutions for each new nation. These are no small tasks but I think that the alternative to dissolution will be much more painful to this once great country.

32. I've sort of already posted this one, but...
I really didn't like Airplane! (the movie). I'm sure I'm just being oversensitive but it seemed to me that it was making fun of PTSD...I dunno. I couldn't watch the whole thing because it was so off-putting and just not funny to me.

A few others:

- I like to eat raw green peppers (not so much red, yellow, or orange), raw green beans (for which I have been called "gross" by one of my mom's co-workers), and frozen peas. Unsweetened iced tea is one of my favorite drinks (I'm from the South, so that's pretty much unacceptable).

- I don't much care for John Lennon. (I love The Beatles, but he's definitely my least favorite.)

- Lord of the Rings bores me senseless.

- I never understood what was so great about "reality TV."

- I hate most "romantic comedies"/"chick flicks" (and I'm a "chick"). On a related note, Pam & Jim's relationship on "The Office" is not the reason I watch that show, and in fact I could totally do without most of the romantic crap. (I bring this up because one of my (male) friends yelled at me for that, lol, so I guess it's an unpopular opinion.) :P

I'm sure I'll think of more later. :hi:

34. I better get my flamesuit ready!!
Here it goes....

I think infidelity is totally wrong.

I think MMA is the greatest sport in the world and it's the only sport that I follow regularly (pro-wresling doesn't count!)

I think it's okay to drive while using a cell phone in certain situations, and think that hands-free cell phones should always be legal while driving.

I don't think people in my living situation (living at home) deserve the prejudice we are subjected to. (I even wrote an article on Helium about it. Was ranked #2!)

I like to eat very plain sandwiches when I go to Subway (bread, meat, vinegar and oil. That's it!)

I truly wish closed-minded people would just shut up and stop closing the minds of other people. Like one of my bumperstickers says: "If Only Closed Minds Came With Closed Mouths".

40. Just to piss everyone off.
I have four kids and drive an SUV (a relatively fuel efficient Honda Pilot, but still an SUV). I like porn and I talk about women in a less sensitive way than I'd want my man to. My husband's a feminist and so am I, but my primal nature can sometimes make me come across with the humor of a frat boy among ourselves and close friends. I'm, though, a girly girl who loves to wear dresses. Plus, I hate TV. I'd rather clean than cook. I like my martinis with Vodka (but Dirty Martinis, not those apple shitinis or whatever) I dislike sports (except for if my kids are playing them). I'm blunt, but don't gossip and able to keep secrets, so I'm often very quiet until asked for my opinion. My feelings about politics are so cynical that I usually feel like I have nothing left. I tell my husband that if my dad owned a liquor store, I'd be the perfect woman and he agrees.

I have now, officially, alientated everyone for something. :)
