1. I don't think he gets charged with an error does he? |
|
If the runner had advanced to 2nd, there would have been an error.
I could be wrong though. :)

4. By george, I do believe you're right! |

K-PB is enough for Sizemore reaching first, because if he doesn't reach first, it's K-2-3. Charging Posada with a throwing error would be redundant unless, yeah, Sizemore went to second on the play.
Good catch. :thumbsup:

Baseball statistician/official scorer.
One thing about being the scorer, though — you're always pissing off somebody. Call it a hit and the pitcher gets mad. Call it an error and the hitter gets mad. Call it anything and fans get mad.
Damned if you do, damned if you don't.

K = strikeout (Don't ask me why. I've researched it and can't find an etymology.)
PB = passed ball (As opposed to a wild pitch; that's a pitch that gets away from the catcher when he couldn't reasonably be expected to handle it, like a pitch in the dirt. A passed ball is one that gets away that he should've handled, in the official scorer's judgement.)
TE2 = throwing error on the catcher. (Each position is numbered thusly, for scorekeeping purposes: 1 - pitcher; 2 - catcher; 3 - first baseman; 4 - second baseman; 5 - third baseman; 6 - shortstop; 7 - left fielder; 8 - center fielder; 9 - right fielder.)
Is that enough for now? :D

I used to do it all the time, for years. I was a sportswriter, and it never really leaves ya — although, as GOPisEvil pointed out above, one might forget a coupla nuances. :blush:
