Man, did I get screwed royally
I get 789.00 a month to live on. My rent is 400.00. My roommate borrowed 240.00 from me,plus he owes me 200.00 in rent.He took my cellphone, he has keys to the house, and he vanished.Pisses me off. Now I have to borrow money so I can get kitty supplies. He's been gone since the third. FUCK!!!

5. Can your landlord afford to change the locks?
If your roommate is that big a creep, there's a good chance that the landlord has already noticed and doesn't like him much either. I'm sure he'll be receptive if you explain the situation and advise him that it's in his own best interest to change the locks on his property. And if payment is a problem, maybe he can add the cost to your rent a few months down the road or -- hey, here's an even better idea -- have a lawn sale of your roommate's stuff this weekend, and when he eventually returns to get his shit, you can tell him that you threw it all out onto the sidewalk and strangers walked off with it.

I did that once when I was in a similar situation back in Saskatchewan, when my security-guard roommate stole $7,500 from his employer's safe, skipped town, made his way to Edmonton, and blew all the money on the ponies, leaving me and his girlfriend to cover the rent and bills ourselves. I mean, how far did he think he was going to get on only $7,500?

Then he actually had the gall to get the police who finally arrested him to call and try to persuade me to let him live in the house until his court date came up. I of course said no fuckin' way, and so did his girlfriend. He also demanded the money we got for his stuff, and we laughed, because the landlord and the utilities got it all.

Yes, I am counselling you to lie through your teeth. After all, he ripped off your cellphone etc, and put you through a lot of grief. Call it "tough love".

3. And I thought mine was irresponsible...
at least he TOLD me ahead of time when he was going to be late with his half, and volunteered to cover the late fee.
