I'm thinking something simple like grilling a burger. But I'm open to suggestions.

4. Roast a duck
- I love duck -

Make a nice cherry or orange sauce - some garlic mashed potaotes and some crispy roasted turnips ---

Or a burger is nice too.

7. Tibetan Momos. You can get the recipe by googling it. They are
beef dumplings with amazing spices and burst open on your rice once you have boiled them.

You'll need flour to make the dough. And you can freeze the extras.

Darn I've had momos on my mind for the last 24 hours. I should make them myself but am on a diet after yesterdays little mishap at that fast food outlet.

9. Would this recipe work?
NEPALESE MOMO
1 cup ground or minced buffalo* meat
l large onion, minced
2-3 cloves garlic
2.5 cm. pice ginger
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon chilli powder
1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
1 tablespoon ghee or clarified butter
1/2 teaspoon cumin seed powder
oil or vegetable oil spray
2 cups+ flour

Method: Grind the spices together and mix with the meat
and onion. Make a stiff dough by adding enough cold water
to the flour and knead. Divide the dough into small balls
and roll out into thin rounds about 3 1/2 inches in diameter.
Put a teaspoon of the filling in the center of the round
and fold the dough over. Pleat or pinch to make a half moon
shape, or gather pleats together to make a round shape.

Place formed momos in a bamboo or metal steamer that has
been sprayed or wiped with oil. Steam covered over boiling
water l0-15 minutes. Momo can also be cooked in broth and
served as a soup. They usually are eaten with a tomato or soy
based dipping sauce.

*Beef, not eaten in Nepal, is an acceptable substitute for buffalo
in this recipe, as is chicken.

10. Yup. And you eat them on rice with hot sauce. That way all the liquid
from when they burst is absorbed into the rice. Yummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmy!

I have one of those metal steaming things for vegetables that you put in a pot. Would that work?

16. Krogers was out of Ground Yak...
So I bought ground round. I ended up cooking it in chicken broth and served it over basmatti. Nice dinner. Thanks for the input. I was a happy camper. Lots of leftovers. And a nice recipe in the bag.

14. I just saved that to my recipe file. Low points, and sounds tasty
and spicy. bet you could use wonton wrappers instead of the dough (a Weight Watchers recipe tip)

I cook with ground buffalo instead of hamburger; leaner and brighter bolder flavor.

18. Hmm...
I've always had these made with ground pork (by Tibetans, no less). One version involved ADDING extra fat to the meat to ensure a nice messy burst of juice.

We'd usually steam them in a bamboo steamer on top of lettuce leaves for some reason. Served with a nice thermonuclear Tibetan hot sauce, natch. :nuke:
