...an introduction to our cooking and baking forum. http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_topics&forum=236I just bought a Dutch oven and have a couple of pounds of locally-raised Scottish Highland beef to try out in it. It's so hot this weekend, though, I think I'll leave it for later i the week.

I am looking forward to finishing our house project so I can get some quality time in the kitchen. We've been streamlinin' it for a couple weeks now.

9. Five Pain Days out of the last seven, but I've gotten some good work done anyway. And Mrs R |
|
has provided her trademark excellent support, so on balance it's all pretty good.
I was a bit down yesterday about not being as active and as much fun as I used to be, but supplied her with a wake-up call this morning that convinced her that I ain't dead yet, oh yes.
How are Dad and Mom doing this week?

I saw them last weekend, they were both doing well. :)
And you and Mrs. R! :o
:spank:
Good health to you, my dear.

13. Christ, we're like a pair of hormone-soaked teenagers. And us in our fifties; you'd think |
|
we'd have some sense of propriety, but no....
Good to hear your parents are doing well. You DO understand, don't you, that Mr Sniffa is going to be the happiest man in the state of Massachusetts tomorrow night, don't you?

16. That home run last night. Manny hit that ball to fucking Iowa, didn't he? |
|
It really was impressive. I'm not big on watching sports, but when I was young and able to, I played football and baseball (and volleyball) until my brains fell out. So I can well appreciate when someone knocks the goddamn cover off a baseball, as he did.
I'm sure that Mrs R will be cooking up something good tomorrow, so I'll be drooling while she yells at the Pats. It's a Sunday tradition around here.

11. We just did the bargain-basement version of that; new floor and one new lower cabinet |
|
with a pull-out trashbag bin in the kitchen...at the same time replaced the fixtures in the downstairs bathroom and did a new floor in there as well. Because my son painted the walls in the bathroom and he and I removed the old toilet and sink, our total cost for a two-room makeover was only about $3K. I think we did well, and we were only without the stove and fridge for one day.
I hope your project is progressing as nicely.

17. We're doing a facelift rather than a whole redo |
|
There's a company here that will replace doors/drawers with solid wood ones and then does some sort of paint/acrylic thing to the boxes and I swear they look showroom new. Our cabinet boxes are solid wood and finding that nowadays without paying a small fortune is pretty difficult.
Then I'm getting a mosaic glass backspash and granite counter tops. I don't have a lot of counter top space, so it only costs $1300.
Total cost: About $6,000 and the kitchen will look brand new. Not too bad.
