WOOHOO!!! Mr. DTBK has finally consented to another kitty!!
He is insisting on a kitten (I know it's nice to adopt older cats, and when we adopted Morrissey he was at least a year old). We are looking at little orange babies because they're such lap kitties. More details as they become available...

1. I have an orange tabby who is in no way a lap cat. She's a female too which
is rare.

3. Hmmm
Okay. I've always heard orange tabbies were usually lap cats. Our Simba was. I have a call in about a kitty - the foster mom is out of town until Monday night. I'll find out more then. You're right - female orange tabbies are rare!

19. I got mine when she was 5 months old and she never wanted to cuddle. But
she'll follow one around the house and sleep on your bed. Loveable - but in her own way.

2. I thought I had an opening...
for any kitty that comes my way that needs a home. But I just found out yesterday that the law in Denver is only three kitties per household :-(

4. That's very restrictive - I hate that!
I just checked our restriction - it's 4.

5. well a kitten is quite likely to bond to one of you. Therefore Mr DTBK should
choose the kitten. The one that melts into his lap is the one, male or female, regardless of color or breed.

but little fluffy orange tabbies are so cute. I had a pale orange tabby once who was a real bitch, but she did like to sit in my lap, and sleep on my hip, when I turned on my side in bed.

9. They had a white cat when he was a kid, and he loves white cats
But when I brought Simba home in 1995 he just went crazy for him. I had gone to pick up Monty as my birthday present, and Simba came up to me and wanted lots of love, and he was so cute I decided to take him, too. Mr. DTBK was still in bed when I got home (Saturday morning), and at first he was irritated that I had brought home two kittens, as we already had two adult cats. But Simba immediately climbed up the side of the bed and starting licking Mr. DTBK's face, and he was utterly hooked.

We would prefer a male cat - I know males and females can get along (obviously we will have the kitten neutered at the appropriate time), but have had trouble with them not getting along in the past.

We have our eye on a little cutie in Grapevine. His foster mom is out of town until Monday night, but I left a voice mail for her, as well as an email. He's about 9 weeks old.

We're not trying to replace Simba - we could never do that.

Our Simba:

10. I'm from Kansas, but have been a Niners fan since 1980
I fell in love with the finesse of the West Coast offense. We only live about a mile and a half from the Cowboys training facility, and I'm sure I see them all over the neighborhood without knowing it, but I really don't like them!

13. Thank you!
We have had a VERY good week. On Monday Mr. DTBK found out that he is receiving the federal funding for his research proposal which he had so desperately desired. On Thursday I received a job offer from a place at which I really want to work. We are very blessed. He announced this morning that he had something to say which would delight me, and it was that he was ready for another cat! YIPPEE!!!

12. alright new kitties are great
I never heard about orange guys being lap kitties. Actually both of my gray girls are turning into lap kitties. One of which I always thought would be too "busy" to be that way but more lately she has been sitting on me/around me....

14. It's funny - Monty was always rather aloof
He liked to be in the room with us, but not sitting with us. After our Fergus died in 2003, Monty became more attached to us. He loves to come sit with us in the evenings. He is an equal distributor of love - he'll come sit with one of us for a few minutes, then go to the other, then return to the other. He's so sweet!

Our Monty:

15. That's right I forgot you had a kitty that looked like mine
This is Sophie..she used to be just content to be in the same room. Now she loves to climb on me. One night she crawled underneath my covers and fell asleep ON my feet. I had been sick that day so it was like having a fuzzy hot water bottle:
