Weather WTF
Edited on Sat Oct-06-07 03:17 PM by Liberalynn
:wtf:

Sue me but bugs, humidity, and buckets full of sweat are just not my thing.

I long to walk in the crisp air of a fall day without being swarmed by insects.

I want to wrap my sweater around me as the cool breeze blows by.

I want to snuggle under my comforter at night with a good book and sip hot tea.

I want frost on my pumpkin damn it!!!!!!

But this bleeping disgusting heat seems like it is never going to end and the people who are doing freaking happy dances about how beautiful and wonderful these extended dog days of quote summer are, are really starting to get on my nerves. This includes my family and all the local weather and news forecasters.

Its not supposed to be freaking summer any more, its October and supposed to be FALL.

These happy dancers must enjoy extended allergies, bug bites, droughts, unchecked and growing bacteria, and global warming!;) :spank:

So fall and winter have their draw backs too, like I personally have, Renaults disease, but I'd rather have cold feet, than feel like I am strangling to death from allergies. We need a good frost to send the allergens on their way for this year.

Plus the way I look at it, Fall and Winter are NATURAL for upstate NY. FROST serves a purpose. Not to mention I will have plenty of heat in hell some day, so for now I'd just like to enjoy a little cool spell.

Is that so wrong?

Sorry to whine but I had to get that out of my system!

Caledonia here--hot and icky. WTF indeed! We're supposed to go pumpkin picking tomorrow but won't because it's too damned warm. I refuse to do autumn-ish things in shorts and a T-shirt! :P

No mulled cider either. It is way too hot. I still have my fan on and I am refusing to let my sister take the air conditioner home yet with her for storage either.

7. Mmmm...mulled cider....
Or mulled wine, which I totally love as well.

The only good thing about this weather is it's keeping me from shelling out beaucoup bux for a big bulky sweater I've been eyeballing in a catalog lately. I mean, whassapoint?

I loves me my sweater collection too. I'm not usually a huge fan of Land's End stuff, but they've got 100% cotton bulky rollneck sweaters in great colors--and I'm always on the lookout for all-cotton sweaters. My bank account is gonna hate me...

We haven't even had a hint of a frost yet this year. It just doesn't seem natural.

Its 79 degrees and going to be 80 tomorrow.

Or, heck, every single Halloween decades ago, when we all had to wear winter coats over our fairy princess/firefighter/astronaut/etc. costumes, thus completely neutering our childhood fantasies.

18. LOL we had that down here too. We went to an outdoor production of Bride of Frankenstein
and it was 17 degrees, full moon. Very Long Intermission. Mass quantities of hot cocoa, coffee and tea were sold that night. The Bride and The Monster did not need any makeup to look that charming shade of blue either. It was emphatically one of the most fun things I have ever done, though. We took 3 sleeping bags, zipped 2 together and snuggled all 3 of us into it, folded up the other one to sit on and wore all our Indiana clothes.

that was the year of Halloween at the Mall due to freezing conditions. Thank goodness it was a dry cold! Sleet, it ain't for Texans./

4. The Chicago Marathon is tomorrow.
The powers-that-be hold the Chicago Marathon during October because the weather has cooled off and it's good running weather. Tomorrow is supposed to be mid-80s and humid as hell.

I am not a participant, but it won't be pretty with people passing out right and left from the heat.

16. I imagine your winters do get pretty long there and hard to take.
Edited on Sat Oct-06-07 03:41 PM by Liberalynn
Ice and snow can outlive their welcome too just like humidity and excessive heat. It was bad one year when it snowed in April and our college dorm window froze open because the temprature dropped rapidly and unexpectedly over night. It went from spring weather back to winter temps in the course of a few hours. I had to lend out most of my heavier cloths to people who short sightedly sent their winter gear back home to early.

I visited Maine in early October several years back though and loved it. The colors were just so much brighter there than here and I loved the fresh air.

It's so great to see that someone out there feels the way I do..

Are you also looking to retire "up north"? HAH! I am!! Everyone seems to retire south, I get that when we are older, we feel the cold more. I think we feel the weather more, both extremes..

NY never has enough snow for me, I'm on long island and south shore, to boot. We get the "mix", never a nice foot of snow anymore. I'm thinking Vermont, that is if I stay in country.. if not: then, Canada!

Those of us who have lived in those states all of our lives who grew up with the cold and the snow. You would think people have learned to live with it and accept it....come on, what kid DOESN'T love snow? It seems so many people forgot what that feeling was like. I've never been up to New England, but I hear it is beautiful there. I know I'll grow old and die here, though ( well, maybe not old, but you get what I mean )

56. It's 82 and sunny, with bone-dry air here in San Diego.
Sunlight dazzling off every leaf. The infamous "Santa Ana" conditions which are ideal for wildfires. Fortunately no fires today. The ocean is blue in some spots, green in others. The trees in the mountains are just starting to turn colors. Oddly, it's not like summer, not like fall, just like some kind of shimmering non-season where the sun is turned up brighter and the breeze dances in circles while the cats snooze.
