Best entrance/introduction in films
Your choice of an "oh my" or "hot damn, this is going to be great" introduction. Can be a character or a thing, such as the battle cruiser in the opening of Star Wars: A New Hope.

My pick: Doc Frank, The Rocky Horror Picture Show. Curry put more brio and energy into that moment than most actors put into an enter career.

1. Jack Sparrow.
One of the best entrances ever. No matter how much the sequels sucked compared to the first, his entrance in the first movie was classic. Strident music, perched majestically on the crow's nest... and then the camera pulls back.

Also, on the subject of Star Wars, Yoda's entrance in Empire Strikes Back. So unassuming, quite the opposite of what we'd expect from a powerful teacher of the Force. :)

2. Star Wars
The "A Long Time Ago" graphic, the opening fanfare, the backstory crawl, and, of course, the blockade runner being hunted by the increasingly enormous star destroyer. The best!

3. I agree.
The introductions that were so dangerous that George Lucas was fined! I don't remember what the fine was, though.

4. Frank-n-Furter

I just love Tim Curry.

As far as opening scene, I would have to say the one in Contact. Character introduction, surely Doc Frank.

:hi:

5. Marla
Fight Club, probably far from the best, but that's the point I knew I was in for a ride

6. "But she...ruined...everything..."
"This is cancer, right?"

One of the first scenes that came to mind for me as well.
