Musical Mystery -- Name that tune?
The odd music behind the latest Visa Check Card commercial where all the juggling goes on inside a toy store -- I've heard snatches of it elsewhere, and I'm sure it's from a movie, I just have no clue what one or if the piece has a name.

Anyone?

2. Sounds a lot like the Sabre Dance
Edited on Sun Oct-07-07 03:43 PM by supernova
And also something that Tim Burton would like. In fact that little commercial has Burtonish overtones.

edit: Got my dances confused. :silly:

3. You're right on both counts, it does sound a little like Sabre Dance
but isn't. My money is on something used in a Tim Burton movie (I'm not a fan, so I haven't seen his animated works.)

4. sounds like a rip-off of Sabre Dance
Here are the particulars about the commercial. No mention of the "song", though - probably something from these guys: http://www.machinehead.com/websitemain/index.html

7. What's that website that links songs by similar music patterns?
There's a music website where you can type in a song and it will look for and start playing similar music based on rythmn, key, pattern, ... I'm sure that commericial, if it's a published piece would come up if we could type in "sabre dance." That would be one way to find it.

11. It was in Pee Wee Herman's Big Adventure, right?
I don't know the name of the actual song, either.

12. Never saw that film, but if there's anything resembling a circus in it,
it seems possible. I'll check that connection, thanks.

13. Yes -- it's from PeeWee's Big Adventure
Edited on Mon Oct-08-07 08:17 AM by gmoney
Yes, the music is used throughout the movie... possibly the best piece Danny Elfman has ever done.

I believe it's used near the beginning of the film where the "Rube Goldberg" apparatus prepares his breakfast and such... similar to the VISA commercial.

on edit: it's called "Breakfast Machine" : http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewAlbum?playlistId=74415041&s=143441&i=74414440

14. Ding! Ding! Ding! We have a winner! And yes, it was a Tim Burton film.

From "Pee-Wee's Big Adventure", "Breakfast Machine" by Danny Elfman, performed by the National Philharmonic Orchestera.

Thank you!

18. Man that was a great movie
I like when Pee Wee Herman rode his bike through Twisted Sister's video (You're Gonna) "Burn in Hell". Way cool.

17. "Breakfast Theme" from Pee Wee Herman's Big Adventure soundtrack
by Danny Elfman.

Elfman was at his best doing the music for this movie.
