4. Ohhh, I get it.
I'm a cry baby because my team is the hottest in baseball now and we just won our first playoff series ever and we've got a decent shot to make it to the World Series and play for a championship! That makes PERFECT sense! :eyes:

6. Uhm... I happen to recall the D-Backs winning the World Series 6 years ago.
For that they have become 'perennial losers'? I think not.

7. Yeah, the Mets should have their '69 championship rings taken away
Because they were perennial LOSERS and thus pathetic.

8. I seem to remember the D-Backs kicking some Skank ass a few years back for the title.
Hard to hate them when they've done that. :D

9. Seriously, why all the hate for the Rox?
I'm not including the D-Backs in this category because they've been to the playoffs multiple times and, as pointed out upthread, have one ring at the expense of the Yankees (starting the Yanks' pathetic postseason exploits of the new millennium)

But why hate on the Rox? Don't people always complain about teams buying championships? Don't people complain that all the real talent can just be snapped up on the free agent market? If you'll notice, the Rockies have made their way here by building, not buying. Many of their players have been brought up in the Rockies farm system. So right there you have some proof that the scales are at least sometimes tilted towards legitimate team development instead of shopping sprees. That should satisfy the people who shout for the need for a salary cap.

Secondly, who doesn't like dramatic comebacks? I mean, rags to riches stories are always popular. Yeah, the Rockies have been downright bad this decade. Definite under-performers. Colorado is one of the best sports markets in the US and yet their idiotic office has pissed away more opportunities than I can count (better take off my shoes). Still, despite being filled with not-top-shelf talent, the Rockies have zoomed from being practically out of contention to winning a thrilling playoff game in the 13th inning and mounting a sweep of a perfectly competent team in beating the Phils.

Plus they're giving some of their playoff money to the family of Mike Coolbaugh. *That's* good karma. So seriously, why the hate? Or is this just another manifestation of the infamous east-coast bias.

10. Rooting for my home team BUT
Rockies are my second favorite team. Right now Colorado is looking good and I can easily see them as the next champs.
