Meet our newest doggie
He showed up as a stray on our front porch last week...named him Paco. Cutest/cuddliest/furriest little thing I have ever seen! Vet said he is a terrier mix of some sort, maybe terrier/poodle? Strawberry blonde fur--same color as my daughter's hair!

4. Our other 2...
Edited on Sun Oct-07-07 07:02 PM by rainbow4321
Got them 2 years ago. The schnauzer (on the left) I got from a rescue group and the Jack Russell/dachshund mix I found at the city shelter when I went to register the schnauzer.

So far, they all seem to be adjusting to each other (crossing fingers and toes as I say this)

P.S. Yay for NJ..I grew up there and miss it!

7. Somerset County
<sigh> What I miss the most: Real four, distinct seasons (90+ degrees in Dallas this week! arrggh), real Italian food, so multicultural.
Last time I went back (2003) I hit both mom and pop pizza joints in my home town and the next day then headed over to Manville for a Polish deli pitstop! And couldn't believe seeing a Domino Pizza delivery man driving around my home town---WHO turns to them when there is real pizza right around the corner!

21. Never been to Bachagloops
When I was back home the locals were taking a lot of pride in being the township with the most pizza places in the area--I think the newest one either was about to open or just recently had. It put them one ahead of the town next to them. The two that I made a beeline to that weekend have been there since my childhood in the 70's/80's--Nino's and Boro Pizza.

18. That dog on the bottom...what breed is it?
It looks like some kind of terrier, but I can't figure out the other part

20. In the pic with the 2 dogs
The gray one is a mini schnauzer and the brown one is a Jack Russell-dachshund mix (a mix right down to her toenails--on each paw some nails are JR white, others are dachshund brown!).

24. Jack Russel-Dachshund...that is a very interesting mix
two different personalities, those two. It's a gorgeous dog, nonetheless

22. Tweak is mostly cairn terrier
(the kind of dog that Toto was in the Wizard of Oz.)

He came to us through the cairn rescue society, but i don't think he's full-bred -- he's a little bit lankier than they usually are. But he's super cute, and SO well-behaved! It blows my mind that someone wanted to get rid of him.

23. The only acceptable reason in my mind would be that the person knew
they weren't financially capable of caring for the dog...but even then, they should have turned it in to the local SPCA

9. Yup, that's a terrier/poodle mix all right
Here's mine, although she's more poodle-looking than terrier (or terrorist as my family calls them; they definitely keep you on your toes!) She showed up on my doorstep on a cold, rainy day in January, & even though my house is SRO, I couldn't shoo this little face away.

25. for Paco...
Dear God, you have given us care over all living things; protect and bless the animals who give us companionship and delight, make us their true friends and worthy companions. Amen.

Dear God, protect and bless all beings that breathe, keep all evil from them, and let them sleep in peace. Amen.
--Albert Schweitzer, "Memoirs of Childhood and Youth"

Blessed are you, Lord God, maker of all living creatures. You called forth fish in the sea, birds in the air and animals on the land. You inspired St. Francis to call all of them his brothers and sisters. We ask you to bless this pet. By the power of your love, enable it to live according to your plan. May we always praise you for all your beauty in creation. Blessed are you, Lord our God, in all your creatures! Amen.
--Franciscan prayer

Paco, may you be blessed in the name of the Holy One who created you, and may you and rainbow4321 and family enjoy life together and care for one another in peace.
