In a sadistic sort of way... How chickens are madeThere's just something about watching thousands of chicks being tossed about hither and yon on a conveyor belt.

That's the goddamdest thing I've seen in a while. I'm still not sure how I feel about it. Chickens ain't very smart, so...I dunno.
My mother-in-law, who had a chicken yard, said chickens are the dumbest animal on earth.
She said "Every day, when they wake up, is like the first day of their life."

When my daughter was 8, she took a new chick chick from one of our (free range)hens and put it in her pocket. Loved it and raised it as a pet. Took it to parties.
We ADORED that chicken. She had an absolutely wonderful sense of humor!!!! Her favorite lunch was always a tuna sandwich & a glass of red wine. She sat on our laps and laughed with us.
Of all the cats, dogs, horses, goats, geese, ducks, bunnies, she is one pet that I really miss. Because of her sense of humor.
You wouldn't be very smart if you were raised and lived your entire life in a box, either.
I worked at the largest publishing and research museum in the Pacific. The director (later, director of the Native American Museum of the Smithsonian) and his wife had a pet chicken who slept on the foot of their bed.
When I moved two years ago, the ONE criteria I truly wanted in a home was the ability to have a coupla chickens. They make a beautiful, soft, contented sound in the yard and are wonderful creatures. Birds are smart.

no wonder I am not a big chicken eater. That is just plain cruel. Imagine what else happens in these kind of "farms." Just boggles the mind.

Not that the chicks looked like they were being treated cruelly, it's just that they were treated like production line material. There were a few part of the video, I did have to smile, but overall it was a little disturbing.
I let my 12 and 8 year old daughters watch it too. They alternately laughed and said "That's MEAN".
