A Michigan man who collapsed during Sunday's heat-shortened LaSalle Bank Chicago Marathon has died, authorities said.

A spokesman for the Cook County medical examiner's office said the victim, identified as 35-year-old man from Midland, Mich., was picked up near the intersection of 15th Street and Ashland Avenue.

The man was taken to West Side Veteran's Administration Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 12:50 p.m.

It's really hot and humid. More than 300 people were taken to the hospital. Officials shut down the race 3 1/2 hours after its start.

3. I am really happy that my brother-in-law wasn't running this year.
So, I imagine, is my sister.

Very sad, the guy was only 35.

7. People were here from all over the world to participate.
The male winner was from Kenya and the female from Ethiopia. Millions of dollars are spent on it, much like the Boston Marathon.

Heck, they hold it in October because the weather is usually cooler. Today's 88 degrees was 22 above the norm for the day of 66.
