Anybody else see 3:10 to Yuma ? |
|
It wasn't a bad movie, but it wasn't really good either.
Did anybody else notice some of the not so subtle errors? Like the lumber, perfectly cut, as if it was produced by a modern day lumber yard? There are many more things that were annoying, but I don't want to give any spoilers in case anybody else wants to see it.

Yes, I get that, but if that's the case, why fight it at all?

I think that is what bothers me most about the movie. It just didn't make sense, did it?

where the Japanese manager finds all the cars thrown together like crap, and gives them their bonuses anyway. Where's the motivation for this?

Could you buy Russell Crowe as a Westerner? I can buy Christian Bale as one, but not RC.

8. Yah Russell Crowe was great |
|
The final part of the movie soured the movie a bit for me (Although I didn't think it was a bad movie) but I enjoyed Bale and Crowe.

11. That Russell Crowe's character (Ben Wade) would go back? |
|
No.. never thought of that. He was a rolling stone.
I did get a kick out of the "green eyes" line. Reminded me of a guy I knew once. lol!

I think he should have left with the hooker when he had the chance. Gone to Mexico.

15. Was she a hooker, necessarily? |
|
I guess I thought she was a singer and saloon worker.
She was pretty, I thought. I liked that part a little... but it didn't seem to fit with the rest of the movie, did it?

Interesting how two people can see things so differently.
I wonder if that sex scene was in the original. Somehow I doubt it!

21. Wasn't this based on a short story by Elmore Leonard? |
|
Another movie was made in the 50's, right?

23. Yes, it is a version of Elmore Leonard’s story... |
|
..and a remake of the 50's movie.
Did you see the older movie or read the story? Just wondering how it was different.

I thought it was pretty good. I'm not a western afficianado (sp?), so I'll reserve judgement, though.
The one technical detail I noticed that was off was that Christian Bale's character had a rifle that looked like a Sharps carbine, which is a single-shot breechloading rifle. The breech is opened by pulling the trigger guard forward so a round can be inserted. The movie seemed to treat this as a Winchester-style lever-action repeater instead.

However talented they may be, Russell Crowe ain't no Glenn Ford, and Christian Bale definitely ain't no Van Heflin. 'Nuff said.

I was afraid it was going to suck but I though both actors did an amazing job and the story kicked ass.
