My sympathies to those DU'ers who still live in Texas.

Woman Arrested For Allegedly Selling Sex Toys

POSTED: 7:57 a.m. EST January 30, 2004

CLEBURNE, Texas -- There won't be anymore buzzing about a Texas sex toy arrest -- at least not from those involved.

A judge in Cleburne has imposed a temporary gag order in the case of a woman arrested for allegedly selling two sex toys. Former fifth-grade teacher Joanne Webb was busted in November after allegedly selling the adult novelties to a pair of undercover officers, posing as a couple.

1. Thanks for the good wishes
Won't be here any longer than I have to be, though!

I used to think I was helping by keeping some scant amount of liberal spirit alive here, but now I'm ready to pack up and move to friendlier parts. Texas sucks.

3. Are there any...
reasonable and sane people left in Texas, or has it become a huge insane asylum? I used to LOVE to go there on tour, but now, I am glad I no longer tour, so I don't have to go there.

11. Yes...
Lloyd Doggett is still my Congressman for the time being. Martin Frost is still in Congress from a district up in Dallas.

And there are plenty of good Dems in our State House - Richard Raymond and the others who went to Oklahoma and New Mexico over the redistricting nonsense spring to mind. I seem to recall a time not too long ago on this board where we were talking about Texas Dems being the ONLY ones left with any spine.

12. Doggett is still in office
And I swear by my yard sign that we'll keep him there. Though we could use some help from despondent Austinites who are stuck with Republican representatives now.

16. Yeah, but there's no denying things are getting pretty nasty here
I've been redistricted into Republican State Rep and Senate districts and come this time next year I'll be living in the odius Lamar Smith's district. This isn't Austin as I remember it.

13. I heard her...
.. her attorney and a local prosecutorial official on a radio show a couple weeks ago.

It seems the defendant is a well-liked well-known member of the community and that the police did what they did based on the fact that what she was doing was possibly illegal and they had a citizen complaint.

The consenus seemed to be that it was very unlikely that she would be in any real trouble.

Of course, that doesn't speak to the absurdity of the law itself....

17. Own more than six? It's "posession with intent to sell"
As was said a while back, if Dildos are illegal in Texas, why is Tom Delay allowed to stay?
