What the heck is wrong with my cat? |
|
My black female Salem still uses the litterbox, (I do clean it daily,) but she insists on peeing in a couple corners around my place.
When I catch her doing so, she meows at me loud, in a "ROWWWW" voice.
What's going on with her?

It her way of telling you something is wrong. Maybe a urinary tract infection.

a urinary tract infection. They often associate the litterbox with the pain caused by peeing, so they try to pee elsewhere.
You should probably have her checked by a vet.

3. Feline Urinary Syndrome |

It can kill your cat in a very fast and very painful way... If she does have FUS, she will need to be on a special diet the rest of her life.
I had a Siamese Cat that got FUS at two years old and it was really bad. He did survive that, though, and lived to be sixteen years old...

I lost the best cat in the world to FUS. Michigan #2 made it through the first bout, the second bout he died in my arms, but I resuscitated him mouth to mouth, and he lived another two years. He didn't make it through the third bout.
I first noticed it, like you, because he was dribbling small amounts of urine outside of the litter box, (during his last episode, he chose to remain in his litter box.) I took Michigan to the vet who treated him and changed his diet. I purchased the food at the vet, I think it was low ash, but I forget. One thing the vet did tell me was not to feed him or any of my cats any products that had fish in it. I don't know remember why though. Make sure he is kept well-hydrated.
One other thing - the vet told me that sometimes it happens in male cats who are neutered too early in their life. I adopted Michigan when he was 9 months old, so I'm not sure if this could have been the case.

5. She need to go to the vet as soon as possible... |
|
She probably does have a urinary infection or some other urinary problem. She cries because she is in pain when she urinates.

we had to put our cat, Butchie, down this week and it was so hard. He was the nicest cat and the first to welcome a new pet in our home. But the oddest thing happened. We adopted a cat several years ago from the vet who felt it was abused. He always stayed downstairs and rarely came up to visit. Yesterday, this cat started coming upstairs, socializing and sleeping in Butchie's chair. We were just stunned.
