Over 40 eyes are the damn pits! |
|
I know, I know, go get the bifocals.
But why is it that some days my eyes focus just fine, and others not so much???

that get dark in the sun (transitions, I think). And skip the line in the middle. I had a hard time admitting that I needed reading glasses, but I'd be lost without them. Harleydad is still in the denial phase ... and his arms are getting WAY too short.

7. I hear ya on the shortening arms! |

I need to wait until my husband has a more permanent job to do the eyeglasses thing.
I have a pair of very strong (+3.50) reading glasses that I use when I am knitting, reading and sewing (I am farsighted and my actual correction is ~+2.95 - so I need to go very strong for reading glasses).
At least I can still get the +3.50s rather cheaply, and they do in a pinch, but I can't drive using them.

OMG, you have to hand over your first-born for glasses these days. Single-vision lenses are pretty cheap. But get the progressives, add some anti-glare, transitions ... ka-ching! But I couldn't do the reading-glasses-on, reading-glasses-off, sunglasses-on ... wait, I can't read the mail when I go to the box! :scared: So I took the plunge. Now I always know where my reading glasses or sunglasses are: On my face! (I had LASIK surgery, so I don't need correction for distance -- just a slight bit of astigmatism.)
There's some rule about how much they can make the reading Rx different from the distance Rx. At least, that's what they told me last time I went. But maybe that's just an issue if you're near-sighted.

9. I read up on the laser surgery for the old peepers |
|
essentially the surgery to correct is different than the laser treatment for other maladies and is short-lasting. I HATE wearing glasses to read.

especially since you are awake while they're doing it. I can barely put drops in my eyes.
My eyes are now officially over 50, believe me it gets worse. :-(

14. My eyes aren't doing so great at 37 either. |

Back in 97 when I got my first real computer, a geek (self described) friend of mine told me I'd be needing glasses considering how addicted I became to the internet right off the bat like that. He was right. I cannot see shit on some days. Today is one of those days.
I know the feeling. x(

15. KW, how often are you posting at DU?? |
|
It makes MY eyes cross sometimes after 3 or 4 hours!!!
And hey, wait until you hit 50. Heyzeus Marimba I didn't know my eyeballs could go so frikken bad!!
Trifocals and I STILL can't read a damn thing without sticking my face in it. Vitreous detachment just 2 weeks ago that my young, very handsome opthalmalogist says, "oh, that comes with age! Don't worry about it." Basturd!!!
