2. ok here's the deal as i said in YESTERDAY'S thread on this topic...
...i as a woman am damn sick and tired of the entire month of october and the entire color pink being devoted to programming me that my breasts are two big bags of disease

if there is anything to the mind/body connection, there comes a point where hammering women that their breasts are reservoirs of disease that will kill them is counterproductive and even destructive to one's peace of mind

it creates fear, it creates anxiety, it guarantees that no woman can feel at home in her body

and i'm sick of it so i'm NOT surprised at the reception the thread is getting

we all know about mammograms, and if we have health insurance, we get one, if we don't, we don't go out and find out we have a disease that we can't afford to treat until such time as we DO have insurance -- a finding of cancer when we're without insurance means we'll never get insurance

women who delay getting their mammograms delay for good and sufficient economic reasons that are not addressed by these pink ribbon campaigns

work for universal health coverage and women getting early detection would take care of itself

the women i know who don't get mammograms can't afford to go looking for cancer, okay? so what is the point of filling them with fear, if they had a choice to have great jobs w. insurance they'd already have them

ok sorry rant over

most of the time if somebody is bitter there's a reason

Good grief, some people aren't happy unless they're pissin' on your parade. x(

4. It's not my thread, but thanks
:)

I just wanted to make sure more people saw it.

I lost my mother to breast cancer. Glad to hear your mother is a survivor.
