I met an old pug with severe scoliosis |
|
I was walking through the neighborhood, and up ahead was an elderly man cleaning up dog poop, while the delivery-system of said poop was right next to him. then she moved... and she moved sideways. A really screwy motion.
I stopped to pet her and he explained that she was 11 years old, and her spine was REALLY twisted. His wife is a veterinarian, and a client bought her in to be euthanized. The vet fell in love and they took her home.
She's not in any pain... she just walks sideways.
Well, this dog was adorable. Just holding my hand above her with the "threat" to pet her caused her to start shaking and roto-shaking her back leg. She was ready to follow me home - I had to pick her up and give her back to the old guy.
Her spine went from her head, then did a left turn almost to her shoulder blade, then jutted back and got normal about halfway down her body. But she's lived a long happy life with such a disability. God, that was a cute dog.

It's interesting that she hasn't had any severe health conditions resulting from the scoliosis.
