I want to see some rain. Just one drop ... Just a tinkle.
I can't remember the last time it rained here in the North Carolina Piedmont Triad. Its October 9 and its 90 degrees. So basically I can still go swimming but I don't want to. I don't want to have to turn my AC on so I am drinking water and just using my fan. It is a drought here. If you are caught using water excessively you have to pay a fine. I am going to go and buy gallons of bottled water because I know the no toilet flushing rule has to be next ... and I can't live like that.

At least if it would rain here, it might a) lower the temperature and b) lower the humidity. x( :hi:

4. I know what you mean.
 It's so damn dry here that we haven't even had to mow our lawn in two months---two months that are usually heavy for lawn maintenance.

5. I always loved the part of August when it would rain for a week ...
but it would still be fine because it was cool a bit. Not this summer. Nothing but HEAT and I am sick - past sick of it. I rode past the lake basins and they are so dry. Its a mess.

I woke up with the worst sinus headache today. It's not the first I have had this summer. This parched, arid, dry air from having no rain is making me miserable. A nice gentle shower from the heavens is in order.

If I recall correctly, someone here, a long time poster, can make it rain for you. I cannot remember who it is, but I do remember a thread about it.

One other trick would be to wash your car, but don't get caught. It ALWAYS rains right after you wash your car, right?

19. Guess what?
It rained last night. I was online, had just renewed my subscription to Runescape and was getting ready to play the game when it started thundering. It rained for about an hour. :wow: I started feeling better, but I had to go off line before I could play RS or post any more. Then my sorry ass fell asleep on the couch. Recliners and couches: my insomnia cures.

How's it going with you?

10. It's on its way in California
Bay Area, East Bay Fothills to be more precise. Cool, but not too cool...wind but not too much...overcast with textures of dark grey and black in the folds.

Kinda nice...I always like first rainfall of the season out here.

In Thailand first rain of the season was nice too...torrential downpour after massive heat wave going into the 100's.

12. Come to my place
We're sick of rain here in South Louisiana. It rains several times per week.

Hard to believe other parts of the South are in drought. We saw a news story about Lake Norman drying up.

13. I'm in Charlotte
We're just to the no lawn watering and no car washing level.

I didn't even know there was a no toilet flushing level. Oh dear.

I drive around a lot for my job - taking pictures and virtual tours of rental properties. I was up at Lake Norman last week. You should see the boat slips surrounded by nothing but mud.

And my mother called me the other night and said, "When you were little, we'd be getting out our big coats and turning on the heat this time of year."

Do people who don't believe in global warming just never go outside or something?

14. Same here in Maryland...
Dry as a bone. We are at the no lawn watering/car washing stage. I would love it to rain also to get rid of whatever #$%%@ allergen is in the air here inflaming my allergies/sinuses..almost constant headaches/faceaches for the last 4 or 5 days...

17. Melbourne
It's similar here. Melbourne and this state in general has been affected by drought more than anywhere else in Australia. Water storage levels in the dams are hovering around the mid 30s mark, I believe .

The farmers are copping it, of course their crops are suffering greatly and it's difficult for them to maintain a livelyhood for themselves and their family.

Also for the rest of us, the price of fruit and vegetables has been jacked up considerably. Last but not least, it's not uncommon for my mother to demand I stop my shower after three minutes or so. In the winter, I'm especially reluctant.

Not so long ago, there was a brief explosion of rainfall, alas that's subsided. There was one day where it was shattering down from the sky, I ran outside, simultaneously it was a joy and punishment: "aaaaaarrrrrrggggghhhhhhh! aaaaaarrrrrrgggggghhhhhhh! Yeah more, more..."

I've enjoyed Evian for a while now, so that's another benefit to come from consuming this pure liquid.

Wonder if the Carolinas would consider hiring some Native Americans to do rain dances?
