5. my health insurance is good until the end of the month
after that, both of us are without insurance

tomorrow I'll call unemployment, get signed up again - hopefully I can just restart my claim from being laid off this march and not have a freaking 3 week waiting period

meanwhile, I'll be hitting kelly services, manpower, Onesource and a couple of others and careerlink, monster.com and put in for anything I can

quiznos is opening a shop near us, looking for help, do they serve fries with that? also a dunkin donuts is opening soon...

pick up the local papers and start applying for whatever I can find....

my stomach is tied up in a knot, can't even think about eating anything at the moment.

we are going to see crosby-nash tonight - no sense in skipping the concert - tickets were bought months ago and we can't get our money back. It's going to be at a small local venue - so scalping the tickets is not an option

did I say this year sucks big time?

10. Can you extend them somehow? COBRA?
If there is any way you can exercise such an option to extend your health benefits, do whatever you have to in order to scrape together the money to do so. And good luck.

13. can't afford it
we researched it when my partner was laid off - nothing out there we can afford

either the premiums are too high, or the deductibles are so high and with so many restrictions that it's not worth the premium

we are now on the Pray-GO plan - Pray we don't have to GO to the doctor

14. There might be some short term health care plans out there that could be less than Cobra.
Bravo to you also that you are going out immediately to seek employment rather than wallowing!!! Good Luck! I feel your pain. It does totally suck!! Also look for seasonal employment, p/t etc.

15. nothing we can afford
except one that has a $5,000 deductible and covers almost nothing - if we could afford $5k deductible we could afford a better plan

9. my partner is
working a few hours a week under the table for two of the lawyers - 10-15 hours maybe

she does have a line on a job, but nothing definite, possibly by November when this guy opens his financial investment office

for me, nothing...at the moment except jobs that serves fries with that and that's no guarantee

thank-god we've got 10 cords of wood stacked for heating... full tank of heating oil - we may not be able to eat, but we'll be warm

18. Know what you mean
I own my business and had to get a part-time job as the work slowed down so bad. Delivering car parts, easy work but the pay reflected the effort and skill required.

Good luck :hi:

19. signed up for unemployment this morning
re-opened my claim from being laid off earlier this year

sucks because I earned more at this recent job than I did at previous, but my claim is based on previous job wages

double sucks because it will be 3 weeks before I get 1st check

meanwhile - I sent out a couple of resumes through monster.com and monster.com wannabe places

have a couple of jobs circled from morning paper - checking them out later today (part-time most likely min. wage/no benefits)

contacted manpower/kelly services and sent them my resume

going to call my contact at another employment agency later this morning - see if they have anything going

24. You must have missed
the Republican debate last night -- when they were painting such a rosey picture of the economy.

I am really sorry.

25. we had bought tickets a couple of months ago to a Crosby-Nash concert
Edited on Wed Oct-10-07 12:00 PM by radfringe
went to that - no sense in not going since tickets were already paid for and non-refundable, and the venue is patrolled for scalpers

concert was good - David Crosby quipped that he thought if someone is put in charge of nuclear weapons they should be able to properly pronounce the word

at intermission I overheard a couple of people talking about bush's veto of schip - one person mentioned that bush has vetoed more stuff since Dems took over than he did under the republics. another person said "that's because the dems aren't giving him blank checks"
