Stockholm – Kristdemokraterna leader Göran Hägglund announced this morning at a press conference in front of parliament that his party was going to change names to “Son-of-God Jesus Christ’s Christian Democrats.”
“We feel that the prefix ‘Krist’ has been getting watered down and it’s time to re-emphasize the religious component.” Said Hägglund. “We need to remind people that Kristus means Jesus Christ, and that Jesus was, whether he knew it or not at the time, a Democrat. And it goes without saying that Jesus and God always vote the same way. The only way to convey this important message is to spell it out.”
“Besides,” added party secretary Lennart Sjögre, “This new name will help us pull in the religious nuts. And that’s the same core group of voters who elected George W. Bush.”
This is the second time the party has changed name. It was founded in 1964 as Kristen Demokratisk Samling (KDS) and became Kristdemokraterna in 1996.
The party’s new abbreviation has switched from Kd to Jkgsd.
