I've been a member for over 2 years and still have less then 400 posts Help!!! |
|
I seriously want to rack up some posts in the near future. I have been a member since Jul 07th 2005 and would like to finally get posting and make more liberal minded friends, the conservatives that I talk to at work, and family functions drive me nuts. Any ideas on how to rack up a lot of posts fast?

1. This is just around my second year |
|
on DU and I have less than 400 also. I made my first post to wish my friend Rhiannon12866 happy birthday because she had been telling me forever I should join DU.
If you really want to rack up a few more posts you could look for the It's officially Rhiannon12866's birthday thread below and pass on some good wishes.

The easiest way to rack up lots of posts?
Answer every person who posts in your threads!
I do that, and I have over 45K posts!
I joined in Feb 2005, BTW...
The next best way is to become a Moderator!
In four months, I racked up 6000 posts...*whew*
So those are my suggestions!
:hi:

|
to get 6000 in four months. I was always wondering how much time being a moderator took, it sounds like too much for me, granted I am usually on here late at night while studying.

Are you new to the Lounge.
I was slow to post for a long time, I am now close to 7000.
Once you start to post the numbers really add up.

6. I troll around in the lounge alot, but don't post much |
|
It is sort of intimidating not knowing anyone at the start and needing to find a way in to what seems like a very active social area of DU

8. I felt the same when I came to the Lounge from GD. |
|
I didn't know anyone and felt funny about jumping into a thread.
We are very friendly here.
We are the best part of DU.

Well, I'm sort of a low poster myself, so I'm probably the wrong person to talk about higher post-counts.
That said, though, I wouldn't pay much attention to racking up posts. Find people and things that interest you. Post when you want to be part of a discussion, or start one. Find a smaller forum or group that you like--there are some really great ones.
I love the environment/energy and science forums (though I almost never post), and the v/v/ar and cooking & baking groups are daily stops for me.
Just enjoy yourself.

7. I really like the enviro forum too. |

But my major in college is Chemical Engineering and Environmental Ethics, so go fig. As for racking up the posts, I just recently took my little my space account all the way up to the #1 most looked at thing on the Internet associated with my name. In fact if you go to google and search "mark winters" and hit feeling luck, it sends you right to my my space profile. I know it is kind of narcissistic of me but I really like the feeling of getting that much attention every time I post on my blog, which is usually political.

17. Ramble on inanely about your new desktop or cat, or explain how some other member |

did something silly with vegan cheesesteaks or whatever. Or why not engage in EPIC FLAMEWARZ in GD? Both rack up posts nicely!

What does a high post count prove other than you don't have anything more important to be doing? Some of us have been here longer with fewer.

25. Start an "Ask Me Anything" thread. Example: "I live in State X; ask me anything." |
|
Or: "I just got back from Awesome Concert Y; ask me anything." Then answer every reply.

I've been here over 3 years and have less than 400 posts. I just don't worry about post counts. If there's something I want to say, I'll say it. I'm quiet off the internet too, that's just me. The lounge is fun, but I'd suggest you also take a look around at the other forums (books, computers, etc.) whatever interests you, and just jump in. :hi:
